Copper Blue - Rescued from the Trash

This one is going to my cousin this weekend. She got a pool table at home and asked me for a cue a while ago. We're having a surprise 40th for her this weekend and I had this forearm that I was going to throw in the garbage.

The veneers are bad on one of the points. It should be visible in the forearm picture, so I had to make a new one for my customers cue. I figured that since I wasn't doing anything with it, I could finish it up for her.

I inlayed this one at the same time as the cue I have up for sale, so the inlays are almost the same. I just cut out double the parts to use in her cue. I had stopped giving my screw ups away because the person I normally give them to ends up giving them to somebody else later on and I make them send me the cue to fix it. If she sells this or gives it away, she won't make it to her next party.

If that's a cue with a flaw, I'll gladly take the next one:) and don't worry I wouldn't pass it along to have it come back to you. I would be proud to shoot with one like it. The copper stands out really well and was a great choice. Beautiful cue.

I like the copper idea alot, this is a great example of using copper. Keep up the good work Tony-your cues are beatiful.

I guess I need better eyes to see the flaw...points look dead even and veneers look consistent to me. Either way, that's a beautiful design!

Very creative use of copper. Love it...

She is a very lucky woman!

Thanks for sharing,
Chris

The flaw is very obvious if you were holding the cue in your hand. If I sent a cue out like that, it would take anybody (except maybe my cousin) under 10 seconds to spot it and wonder what the hell is wrong.

I noticed it as soon as I built the forearm and just made another right away.

Chris, you could be lucky too if you were serious when you said Deal on Jimbo's site...

I guess I need to get the Yankees back to the World Series this year. Never been to the WS so here's hoping. I did go to game 1 of the ALCS last year against the Angels. It was AWESOME!!!!

Chris <---- loves going to the Stadium

I know someone whose JW has got silver inlays and ringwork. And they are turning black!

Would copper also tarnish over time?

I put copper in a cue two years ago and it's still copper. A friend of mine in Upstate New York put copper in some cues over 4 years ago and it's still copper as well.

I was able to see the flaw pretty quickly since you said where to look. Very odd. I bet you were sick to get that much work into a prong & turn down to find that! All else looks really great, though. The new ring barbells are much improved, too.
Was there a void in the adjoining veneer?

The thin white veneers are kind of wavy when I get them. For some reason, they weren't pressed well.

I didn't have much work into the cue once it was noticed though, but I threw it aside for a kids cue or something.
