Az's very own JoeyA has been doing commentary with Danny D and Jay Helfert (& prob others I didn't hear) and I have found him to be *more than excellent* behind the mic.

He is laid back, knowledgeable on both the players and game strategy/shotmaking, and he handles himself with abundant grace which you better possess sitting alongside Danny D. because he'll test you. :D

And he has a great voice for it.

Nice job Joey!

Who is this Joseph A that you speak of. His name sounds kind of familiar.

Maybe some sharp dressed Hustler from the old days in NO perhaps.

Joey and Danny are a good match in the booth IMO. I thought it was funny, though, when DD slipped while disagreeing with Joey and accidentally called him "Billy".;)

Agreed, clearly understands the game and can keep his booth partner on point with the match.

Without adult supervision there have been cases of wandering.... Huh

Joey A is a pleasure to listen to. Humble and informed. Great work JoeyA! All the commentators brought a good game!

And thanks to Badi, Big Truck, and all that put on an amazingly well run tourney.

And... Damn, did Mika torture that up and coming straight shooting Wang. Maybe "he's baaaaack!"

I like to listen to JoeyA too.

BUT, I think Joey is missing a regular sidekick.

What made Billy and Grady so good is they worked together, had different views, both knowledgable, played off each other, etc.

I would like to JoeyA get his "Grady" or "Billy".

All the way around; profs to the commentators. Every single one of them made it more interesting for me. I love it. They all did a fabulous job !

I expect Joey to always bring something.

He's a striver....and a Marine.

I love listening to JoeyA. The one thing that always amazes me about him -- and I have told him this, too -- where is that sweet Southern accent? JoeyA can turn it on if he wants, but most times, he has no accent, zip, nadda.

This is what the professionally trained TV anchor men learn quickly when they go on national TV, to lose the accent, whether it be Southern or New England or California.

Well done, JoeyA!

But if you ever speak to me, you can turn on the Southern accent, okay/ :grin-square:

I know Joey A has been sitting in doing commentary for some time and I think it's fair to say he's grown into this role really nicely.

I like the man's laid back demeanor and it's fun matching up his thoughts with mine regarding patterns, strategies, shotmaking and position play.

He adds a lot to a broadcast.

The fact that Danny called him "Billy" at one point, whether it was a slip or intentional, was a high compliment, imo.

Big Truck Ray also has a great commentator voice and I *always* enjoy getting Jay's perspective.

There was never any need to turn off the sound for this event, well, except for during all those commercials. :p
