Country Calvin/ prostate cancer surgery

My brother Country Calvin has recently found out that he has prostate cancer.

Calvin has undergone a battery of test and the good news is that the cancer is confined to the prostate only and hasn't spread to any of his orgins, but you never know about this, I ask all of you who believe in the power of prayer to send one upstairs for Calvin at this time.

Calvin will have surgery April 29th at the VA. in Shreveport,LA., I understand he will be in the hospital recovering for three days after the surgery.

I believe he will undergo some chemo later on also.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers inadvance for Calvin's full recovery of this disease.


Calvin's old friend and road partner when they were young , Mike Massey called Calvin and chated for about an hour on the phone, the call from Mike lifted Calvins spirts alot, Mike was doing an exibition in Shreveport,La a few weeks ago and heard about Calvin's condition.

If they caught it early, his chance for a long life, are good. The VA has some great doctors, and I wish your brother all the luck in the world.

I wish him speedy recovery.. Is he the same Country, that use to play with Jaffar 'Patch Eye' Basheer , i read a story at Onepocket.org one time?
 
Wish him the best. My father-in-law had it not too long ago and only had to have surgery, no chemo. Hopefully he'll get a good roll too !!!!

I'll be wishing Calvin all the rolls. Sounds like he caught things early enough things will go well but a little prayer from a lot of people certainly doesn't hurt.

Do holler if there is anything I can do to help.

David, my thoughts and prayers go out to Calvin.

I was just at my APPA Arkansas state tournaments this past weekend listening to Lynn Smith reminisce about the old days. It was after-hours at Beezer's in Russellville, so I was dragging every story and bit of pool knowledge I could wring out of him. He mentioned you and Calvin several times.

Maybe someday we'll all get a chance to play a game of Scotch Doubles together. :)
 
Will be sending all the good thoughts I can muster to Calvin. Hoping for a successful surgery and treatment of his cancer.

My prayers have gone out for your brother. As a survivor of prostate cancer, I know one thing...that if you're a man and you have to get cancer, get prostate cancer. The chances of recovery are pretty good and the surgery is very far advanced from what it used to be, in fact, it's nothing like it used to be. God bless.
 
I know quite a few people that have survived this, David.
Medical science has come a long way.

Yep, my Father had it and was a survivor in his 80s.

Old age got him at 92.

CC will be ok.

Ray, I love the new addition to the family. Little Blue Eyed sweetie.
 
Thanks! So far, he and his sister are holy terrors!

My doctor told me that if men lived long enough, we'd all get prostate cancer sooner or later...

Sorry to hear this David, i know how much you care and love your brother just by all the great stories you tell of him and yourself of all the great times you guys had out there on the road playing the game you both love.

Sounds like you two have been very close for your whole lives, thats special David!

Keep your Brother (country calvin) strong and in good spirts!

I met Calvin and his backer in Memphis. I worked with them a little bit.

They were both really nice guys.

Hello David,
I trust that you are doing good. I am sorry to hear about Country Calvin. I will send a prayer up for him, to do a full recovery. I thank you for letting us know about Calvin. It is bad news, but we need to know about this.
