Coverage of mosconi matches in progress

Europe was dead out - Daz pockets the 7 and inexplictably bumps the 9 to the side rail just above the side pocket. Boyes makes the 8 and Daz has to cut the 9 down the rail, past the side pocket. Clips the side pocket and leaves Corey the 9 FOR THE WIN!!!

Interesting that Shane and Wardell jumped up to congratulate the guys, Wilson just sat there. Looked like he didn't even say a word.

both teams did everything possible to lose that one and in the end it was a defect table that was the difference

Hall, who probably figures he'll have to be the one to deliver this point, breaks wet but Deuel must push. Europe wisely gives it back, and Deuel plays a twice across safety and Appleton safes back. Hall faces a vey tough kick and makes a great hit. Boyes safety leaves Deuel an easy kick but it won't be easy to leave it safe. Solid shot by Deuel eaves Appleton tough, but Darren plays a wonderful safety and Hall is now jacked up and kicking. Ball in hand to Europe.

Are we going double hill? It looks it, but no we are not. Darren misses a difficult nine ball and USA wins the match!

The Mosconi Cup is tied 1-1. Hall looking good, Deuel, as Jerry Forsyth noted, is way out of stroke and it's hard to remember him playing worse than this.

OK, who's got the momentum now?

Next up is singles, in which John Schmidt will try to give the US it's first lead in the 2014 Mosconi Cup.

This is fun!

Oh yeah, the venue looks fantastic.

Some coaches like to put their best up first, and if they do really well, hope it sets the pace. High risk/high reward.

Like I said, I never would have used those two first.

Now comes Schmidt. If he can run 400 balls, he can handle the pressure of this atmosphere.

Easy Colin. That's Jerry Forsythe.

There's no excuse for what's going on then. Blatantly calling things wrong. Saying someone dry broke when in fact they did make a ball. That happened on more than one occasion. It's brutal to listen to people basically admit they aren't even watching the match they're commentating on.

That was about the norm as far as his commentating usually goes.

Absolutely love this tournament. The drama and excitement is contagious. If we could somehow figure out how to get crowds like this year round that'd be the ticket.

For those that didn't see it. It was not a "defect" table. He had to get past the point of the side pocket to run it down the rail but caught the point. Corey had to shoot off the rail and ALMOST missed it, it hit the point and went in the corner.

Daz missed, plain and simple.

Yeah I agree, it was clear from the slomo replay that he cut that into the rail. Sometimes people think the point of the side pocket sticks out and grabs the ball on its way to the corner, but I think it's more of a visual issue than the point actually sticking out.

Schmidt answers with a nice break and run and we're tied at 1-1. well done!
