Craigslist Ripoffs...

You're making me vewy ANGWY!

Pardon me, but I like to know the kind of cue I'm purchasing.

It's an real ivory cue stick!!!!!!! and I am not surprised is does not have the persons name on it, because it is custom made. You will not find another one like this one, because real ivory cue sticks are EXTREMELY RARE!

Has he performed the "ivory" test?

Two ways to ensure he has an ivory cue:

Place the cue under and alternate light source, what color is it? If it's green with speckles of grey it's ivory. Any other color indicate a polymer. His local CSI department should have no problem letting him use their alternate light source.

Second is a little less scientific but I learned it on "The Naked Archeologist". Lick the cue from top to bottom. Is it salty? If it's salty, then it may be ivory. To be sure perform the following test, flick your tongue across the cue while moving it up and down. Do you feel little ridges. If so, it is 100% ivory.

I sent this email to the seller.

Very nice cue. Is the ivory color stand all around the cue? If so that's great, but did the maker tell you how he got it to be so bright? It may also be the angle you took the pictures.

Anyway,

What kind of tip is on it?

What's the diameter of the shaft?

Has this cue been shot with?

Given the combination of Irish Linen and Steel joint, what kind of hit does this cue have?

Right now, without the above info, I'd easily pay $650 but I'd be flexible.

Please let me know

Thanks

Dan

I really hope you all are asking this guy these questions... LOL - I hope his inbox is blowing up.

I think the most important question someone should ask him is, "Why a uni-loc joint?" What makes them so special....

How do they compare to wood to wood, phenolic, piloted vs. non, sleeved ivory, 5/16x14, 5/16x18, 3/8x10, 3/8x11, 3/8x14, etc....

You should have asked him to perform the "less scientific method" you suggested above, for ivory verification :p

I clicked the link to view his listing and they have been removed by the author, lol.I wonder why he removed them??
He removed them so that he could relist them and get them higher up on the list. I do not know if this is the same GW cue he had up the first time but this one is an inlay cue.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not defending the guy and I do not agree with his selling tactics. His suggested price is way out of line and his spin of them being custom made in Vegas is way off base.
But, you guys should get your facts straight before you call him out.
Both of the cues posted are inlay. Both are also imports.

Marissa, I have a good idea who the professional cue (maker) actually importer of the first cue was. Trust me he is not mechanically inclined. He has trouble working a pencil sharpener let alone a lathe.:grin-square:

So for my own education.... what is inlaid on that cue?

I see points and ring billet...
The points are a short splice forearm. The butt is a spliced sleeve slid over the handle dowel. No real inlay on that model. The first cue has the bone inlay CNCd.
I am not a cue maker and don't know all the details but I have been selling imports long enough to spot decals.
Don't get me wrong GW does make decal cues these just aren't them.
Who is Dave Pearson?

I get emails from WorldWide Promotions and Dave Pearson.
He does one piece cues (buy a bunch for under $7 each).
Also send out promotions on basic two-piece cues (with an imitation wrap!) -
you get 25 cues for only $273.75 ;-)
HAHAHA

There are no inlays in that cue.

I guess you are talking about the GW. True it would be better describe as having real veneers.
However there are not decals on that cue. :grin-square::wink:
The other the #4002 you posted before is CNCd inlay. :yeah:
