None of the above,

I liked Creedo's response about pulling up and saying I won't take someone's rent money. I would have done it away from his gf so his pride doesn't get in the way of accepting some or all of the money back. Many of us have gotten into bad games at young ages, with time he'll learn or be paying child support with the money he wishes he could gamble with.

I like your response and it is a very gracious way of handling the situation. The man might be a knucklehead but he still has his pride. He is also more likely to take some of it back. She might not know how much he is down to start with. So he could hide his inabilities at pool from her.

I take it we are supposed to magically know which thread you are referring to? Geez, man.. You couldn't even give a synopsis of the situation, or at least a LINK to the other thread???

Many moons ago, I was with a road player in Rome, Georgia. The bartender knew why we were there, and he called the best player in Rome, Georgia, at that time to play some. He was an older gentleman and played pretty jam-up. He was ahead at several points during the match-up. However, when the dust settled, my friend the "road player" won all the man's cheese.

When we left the bar and walked out into the parking lot, I saw the man sitting down on the pavement, with his head bowed, sobbing. I will never forget that sight. That was my last on-the-road experience. Never again.

Today, things are quite different when it comes to playing pool on the road. There aren't too many unknown entities. Because of the advent of modern-day technology, a "knock" is only a cell phone call away! :p

I guess the answer is, do what makes you feel good about yourself, if you can rob the guy and you feel ok about it do it, if you are going to feel bad about taking the guys rent money, don't do it, if the guy wants to play you, tell the guy you will play some small ball 5/10 a game, and show your speed and let the guy know what he is up against. It doesn't matter if it was a con job or not, we still have to live with ourselves.

Need option D...

 I think three options was a bit hasty, all of your choices involve continuing to play. A lot of people would not continue playing in this situation.

3 clicks of the mouse too. JAM your spot on. Staying under the radar like Jack Coony(SP?) did would be hard to do, because of this something real like the ITP would be great, i dont want to dig up bad memories but scuffing around anymore is about impossible so big tournments is the solution.

You have a valid point. When his wife showed up with the rent money would have been agood quitting point. I think that would put you in the group that would not go for the throat.

I would have taken him for everything he had and been even more ruthless about it. Let him know that he had no business betting that money by spanking him hard. Take his cue as a final insult.

While he was shooting I would have told the bartender to ask the wife to stick around for just a couple of minutes after he storms out of the place. I would have given most of the money back to her and told her to try and get him some help. If you are willing to bet the rent money you need to go to gamblers AA.

In the few situations I've taken too much from someone ( the same guy twice) I've told them to get the time and not taken their cash. however this didn't create good karma, nobodies ever gave me this option. But i did learn my lesson.
