Everyone is talking about why Rodney is banned and missing the good news. It sounds like Rodney may be thinking about holding his own events. This could turn out to be the fire that they players needed to wake up and help to support themselves and the game we all love ;)

Here is what Rodney wrote on his FB page today:

So I asked my friend to sign me up for the Reno bar box events and he said that they told him I was barred from all CSI events. They had no reason for him. Just that I'm barred......... I told you guys that you can't teach class. Boy, that Mark Griffin is a class act for real. Lol.........I feel bad for all the people that support this human being. Maybe it started when he said, and I quote, "In the pool world, I'm God". That's what did it for me. That's when I became a fan of his. Lmao. I guess the good thing about not being ever playing his events again. At least I'll forever be the "Reigning U.S. Open 10 Ball Champion"!!!!!!!! Because if I never get a chance to defend my title, than nobody can dethrone me. Sweeeeet.........and if there's any lovers of this awesome person, please feel free to defriend me ASAP. And all the players that have been in his corner, don't be confused when I start doing events and don't invite any of you. It's not business, just personal. I promise:)

In my opinion, his statement is divisive, sets an undesirable precedent, and is a bad example to others in and out of this industry.

That said, this is America and he is more or less free to do whatever he wants.
I will sleep fine either way.

Was it Rodney who was one of the most vocal players after the non-payment by the IPT, demanding a player's union be formed, going on several interviews, including TV, and that this unfortunate event would unite all the players?

I think it was him, about 75% sure.... If it was, nothing ever came of that, so you can use that as a barometer for this current statement of his.

Rodney Morris is one of my favorite pool players. So, to not be able to see him play is a disappointment. However, Mark Griffin has been one of the most prominent promoters for a while. I'm quite upset that the pro events won't be happening this summer in Vegas. I was really looking forward to attending those events.

Sounds like that is about the only way he is going to be included. Where will the money come from?

But at least he can ban Mark from attending if he likes.

I seriously doubt that you will see anything of the like in our life times. Just talk. The same talk that got him into trouble in the first place.

If it were anything more than that, we would have seen it happen long before this. You couldn't get half these guys to get off their butts with a stick of dynamite.

Unless there are announcements soon how many CSI events are there this year?

Well, most pool players I would imagine are professionals on the table, but when it comes to the media world, they are amateurs.
RM better be careful what he says, because things spread very quickly. I hope this rant doesn't get him in trouble.
If so, HE and only HE will be responsible for his words.

Mark is one of the guys who gets tourneys done. Wrong person to rant about in social media.

No silver lining here.

If RM will produce and promote events, I certainly wish him well, but if he will use such events as a platform for escalating already regrettable tensions within pro pool, we'll all be losers, whether we are fans, players, sponsors or anyone else whose fortunes are tied in any way to the vitality of pro pool in America.

I'm going to suggest that Rodney isn't so small as to pursue this foolish course.

If I remember correctly, Mark stated there would be US Open 8 ball and 10 ball at the BCAPL Nationals this year. The one pocket event will be held in Reno with the bar box event. Also seem to remember Mark stating the events would be by "invitation" only and certain players would not be invited. No one by name.

Didn't RM complain publicly about the payouts from the US 10 ball? Please correct me.

If Rodney Morris actually holds a tournament....
...and someone acts like he did with Mark Griffin....

I wonder how he will handle it?

this wont be happening

All talk pretty much like the ABP or whatever their name was.

Al lot of blustering and not much action to back the words, or threats.

Just like Rodney was going to Europe and take on anyone there for a ton of money.

That never happened. Well, at least he has the time to do it now.

RM has so much money he had to wait until after the deadline to submit his entry fee to the US Open and then complained about paying a modest late fee, therefore, it is logical to conclude he has plenty of funds and the wherewithal to create, organize, promote and finance a tournament of his own. Right. Were RM to actually attempt to accomplish this feat, the silver lining is he may learn a lesson the leads him to sincerely regret the words he said to and about Mark Griffin.

I hope they work on an organization first. Then they can go after the tour.

The Mosconi Cup Team USA strategy for next year is a new one. Will it work? I don't know. But it is probably going to be better than what has previously been the status quo.

In this regard, the American pros needs a new strategy for an organization. What has occurred in the past with UPA and ABP just ain't cutting the mustard.

Pros need to unite, American pros, and get this American professional pool machine back to running again. :)

The silver lining, if there is one, is that Mark G has made a statement, putting all pro players on notice. Hopefully it will help to clean up the attitudes of some pro players on and of camera. Wouldn't that be a boost for the game over the long haul?

good for Rodney /if you hold a tournament for pros all should be able to come if they wish. mark is like a 10 year old kid I'm taking my ball and going home. because he don't like me.
