AZB just posted our press release about sponsoring Mike Dechaine at the Steinway Classic this weekend.

I know most of the people involved in the drama over the JA/MD texts.
I also know some other 'things' - and all this crap has got to stop.

We are supporting Dechaine because I think he has the right to not join ABP and the right to not join Bonus Ball. And the right to 'do his own thing'.

And for that reason - we decided to show our support. There is a message here. People in the public eye or in any kind of power position (especially in pool) need to be prepared to stand behind what they say. So I guess one should keep their ego in check and be careful what they say and do.

This is about elevating the ethics of the game and I think they need a LOT of raising.

The politics aside, I think this is very good news, Mark.

Mike Dechaine is playing great pool and will represent CSI well. In the recently completed US Open 10-ball at the Rio in Las Vegas, the only American finishing higher than Mike (who finished 7th) was the winner Rodney Morris.

Looking forward to the Steinway Classic. It should be a great event.

You are absolutely right, I hope he does well at the tournament!

nicely put and happy to see someone take a stance in these politically charged and important issues.

I like this move, it just sucks that it has to be Mike that they sponsor. Sad that you have to use someone with an existing negative image to make a point, but I guess you are limited in choices. Obviously he pisses off a lot of people on a very regular basis, and has acted unprofessionally in the public eye numerous times.

This could be a good move for Mark and CSI, or it could backfire big time. Should be interesting to follow.

But, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if Mike is an excellent and ultra professional gentleman who wins the tournament and represents his sponsor well, or if Mike decides to paint CSI on his naked ass while taking shots of tequila on the TV table. There will still be plenty of drama and bullshit to discuss here on AZB.

Mark, I would like to say congratulations to you and Mike Dechaine on your new sponsorship. I think Mike will represent your company very well. He is young, aggressive, goodlooking and is very marketable. I wish you both continued success. As for the issue between Mike and myself should be handled this weekend. He will be here at Steinway Billiards and we will work this out face to face (not text messages). LOL. I sense a little tension between you and i. I don't understand why. You can call me anytime so we can talk this out. You have my cell phone number so feel free to call. I will be waiting for your call. Thank, Johnny Archer

Actions *always* speak louder than words. Bravo! :clapping::clapping::clapping:

Stupid question, why is CSI called CSI if they promote pool in the US only?

"CueSports International is dedicated to creating more choices for all players. In the past 9 years CSI has directly paid out over $9,000,000 to players. CSI is the parent company of the BCA Pool League and the USA Pool League. CSI also produces independent events such as the US Bar Table Championships, the Jay Swanson Memorial, the US Open One Pocket Championship, the US Open 10-Ball Championship, and the US Open 8-Ball Championship. Visit www.playcsipool.com, www.playbca.com, and www.playusapool.com for more information about CSI and its divisions."

Way to go, Mark.

Mark, nice job on giving him the backing for his career. Dechaine was one of only a few pros that were in the practice room playing with the kids, right up to the time he had to leave to drive back home. I saw Dechaine, SVB, Jennifer B and Hunter Lombardo with the kids out of all of the pros. I just wish they all mingled a bit more with the kids that were hanging around the area.

It was nice meeting you at Vegas, CSI puts on a great show and we all had a great time. Having the Jr Nationals for BEF share the space with the pro tournaments was a great experience for the kids.

Hi Mark, I first want to say congratulations to you and Mike Dechaine for your new sponsorship. My heart is with all players to achieve success. I think Mike will represent CSI in a professional way. On the other issue regarding Mike D. and i, Mike and i need to confront our differences face to face this weekend at the Steinway Classic for the betterment of pool. We are both grown men so i am sure this will get handled in a grown-up fashion. But, i sense some hostility from you towards me for whatever reason. This is not healthy for pool either. I have much respect for you Mr. Griffin as i hope you would have the same for me. You can call me anytime and we can talk this out. You have my cell phone number. Thanks, Johnny Archer

Mark,

while I've heard many complains about Mike from third persons, I've been around him at tournaments for the past three years and I also worked on special occasions with his sponsor Predator, for photoshoots.

All I've ever seen is a great individual, very smart and very focused, both on and off the table.

I've seen him more than a few times come up with ideas and tips to push his sponsors forward. Always thinking about the fans, too. Signing things for the kids, helping the BEF etc...

I think what you did for him here is fantastic, and Mike will show his support for CSI I'm sure.

I've also been involved with the ABP at the very start (to shoot the composed picture for the announcement) and since then I haven't been very impressed, to say the least.

Well said absolutly agree with everything you. Hopefully it works out for CSI, but I'm willing to bet he does something to embarass himself this weekend. I have seen mike at a few tournaments across the country an listen to him ridicule his fellow professional players saying how certain players are washed up an arent in the same league as him. But to each is own. Best of luck CSI your going to need it

Hey Mark,

Way to go. First Shane now Mike. Most every time I've run into Mike, whether at a Joss Northeast event or in Vegas, he's always been more than friendly. He's a great young player and deserves, no earned a sponsorship. You da man!

Lyn

This is great news for everyone!!! I'm really happy for mike, hopefully he will make csi proud!!! The other good thing is hopefully he won't be around here much, does a great job at pissing people off!!! I know a lot of the patrons will be happy he's hopefully gone!!! Now, if csi can mold mike into a real champion,,, might be the next Shane;)
