Cue Club in Vegas

I have been contemplating writing this thread for awhile now, but I think this story adds to the reasons of why pool is slowly dyeing.

During the APA vegas nationals, I went to the Cue Club looking for some 9 ball or one pocket action, I found 2 guys playing by themselves.
I approached one, asking if he wanted to do something cheap, sure enough the game started.

My opponent told me that its $8 to play all day till 7 pm special during the weekdays

When I went to the counter to let the guy know i was jumping on table 2 and I wanted the $8 special.
He said " That guy shouldn't have told you that, I have to charge you $3.75 / hr"

I was being charged a different rate because????????? I get it, I'm not one of the locals??? OR since there was a big tourney going on, the cue club decides to make the most of it and charge the visitors a higher rate????

I said "whatever, I wanna gamble, put me on table 2"
After a few hours, and believe me it was a great match i had found.

My Table time came up to $16 or $18....
I paid it and left and told the girl at the counter, that I will never come here again.

For next few days I went looking for action at Pool Sharks where I spent over a hundred dollars on table time playing one pocket.

Thats My Story, hate to bash an establishment, but it is what it is.
 
I just don't get it..

I am dealing with things like this at another organization I am a member of.

I get that you are upset that you might not have gotten a deal that is offered to locals but there are too many variables to blame the establishment...yet

Did you ask management? Did you ask if if was a special for locals? Did you ask if it was due to the APA nationals?

Maybe the guy you played was lying or has a personal deal worked out. Maybe they have a membership deal.

It could have simply been a rogue employee or a misinformed employee.

If it meant a lot to you I think speaking with management and finding out answers is the ONLY thing that makes since. THEN if you don't like the answers you have more ammunition and facts to post.

Sorry it didn't work out for you at the CC but I think you found a good if not better room it sounds like.

You don't think that a local should get a deal over non local? Or that you shouldnt get the deal at a place that a guy that goes there all the time gets?

You might be shocked to find that most all rooms have deals for certain customers or some type of rewards program.

Its not just pool... locals especially in a destination location have and get deals all over the place.
 
Thats not the first time that story has been told during pool events in Vegas.

Still, I pay 10 and change for an hour so I think $3.75 is pretty reasonable.

The first and last time I was at the Cue Club, there was a trail of vomit leading into the Doniker.

All of the urinals were out of order, (over flowing) save one and one toilette was operational. It smelled like a fire hydrant in a dog pound.
I wouldn't have set my butt on that seat if it was on fire anyway.

The Cue Club didn't look like the pics on their web site. That night anyway.

We also chose to spend the rest of our evenings at Pool Sharks. The toilly was small but at least it didn't smell.

Holy shit batman.....principals are really expensive now days.:eek: Me, I'm cheap so I'm going back for the cheap table time and hope I find another good match.

If it were that big a deal to me, I would have asked to speak to the manager or the person in charge to get the all day deal.
 
It was not a special for the locals, It was not a special membership program.
It is there weekday special.

My opponent asked me to wait for the owner, as Im sure he would have given me the daily special as Im sure he would have recognized me from other events, bca, rum runner and such....

Remember it is not the RATE, its the principal, I would like to see some of you guys go to Mcdonalds and pay $5 for a big mac while everybody else pays $3.
EXACTLY it would put you in the red zone pretty quickly :wink:

In Pasadena, where I live, annually we have the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game that brings in millions of out-of-towners.

During this time, my wife and I, go to a regular restaurant of ours on the parade route. Looking to order the usual stuff, we noticed the prices were at least 30% higher than last time we'd been in. We questioned our server about this, who quickly adjusted the prices for us to the regular rate - this was an inflated "seasonal" increase.

My point is, everyone does that. Not just the Las Vegas Cue Club.
 
Corey, the guy behind the counter said, " he shouldn't have told you that", which means this is the advertised rate, in which, now that I had asked, the house is obligated to give me that rate.

Just like you questioned your server and he had adjusted the price.

Mondays and Wednesdays, ladies play absolutely FREE at the Golden Cue in El Monte CA. This is my home pool room.
On these days we get a bunch of nice ladies coming in playing and having a great time. I know the owner and it doesn't matter what season or tournament is going on, ALL ladies play FREE on Mondays and Wednesdays no Matter what as that's the advertised rate.

Next time you're in Vegas go to Best Billiards. Well maintained Diamond 9- and 7-footers, one Diamond 10-footer (OMG it was like playing on a football field) and two carom tables.

Clean, well above average food, friendly. It had a very reasonable daytime rate although I don't remember what it was. They might raise their rates too when tournaments are in town, but that's to be expected IMHO.

I think Max Eberle is the house pro...or at least one of the regulars.
 
Should have walked and went over to that Swing Club. I heard it is in the same mall area that the CC is in.

Maybe they had special rates.

Maybe could have found a couple of porkers over there.
 
During the that time,
I went to the Cue Club and asked for the $10.00 special and the lady said that during the tournament they didn't honor that so I left.

I went to Sharks and got their $8.00 special.:)
 
This is just like the Cable Company or Directv -- new customers get a much lower rate than an established customer. Every year I have to call them and argue, why would you charge a new customer less than me when I have paid my bill on time of 10 years.
