Nothing like a Balabushka. The only thing that might be considered Bushka-like is that it is a pool cue.

I would say it is most likely an import based on the joint pin and pilot.

I'll have a look at some catalogs tonight but I don't remember seeing that cue.

The joint rings generically look like Rich or Gandy but many cues used similar joint rings.

It could be a domestic cue, so I am not ruling that out, but my first impression is import.

I have seen that pilot before but can't place it. That may be the tell if we can place it.

Too often people are willing to call something a possible Bushka simply because it is old. Most often they are wrong. The same thing happens with JOSS. Too often people call anything old with a 14 screw and mitered points a JOSS, most often they are wrong.

Looks like a Schuler pilot, but it doesn't look like a Schuler cue....then again, what does any particular Schuler look like.

The pilot on the shaft looks like a Schuler but the pin is wrong. Def not a Schuler.

I'm with the others. It looks like an import.

I'll trade a Jeff Eason toilet plunger handle for it. In other words, give it to a grand kid. Maybe somebody else's

That it might be an import does not mean it is "junk".

Before giving it to a kid to destroy one might consider that the market for such cues is currently stronger than it is for many of the cues that people in this forum would hold in higher regard...like McDermott, meucci, and JOSS...which will often sell for half their retail price.

In other words, these often sell for much more than they were new. Really.

I have seen plenty of "$35.00" cues sell on Ebay for $150.00. Really.

This cue might surprise people in an open auction. Really.

Now, one need not like that, but makes it no less true.

So....feel free to prop windows and plunge toilets with such cues. I myself would not be so cavalier nor quick to judge.

EDIT:
I would also remind people of the Doc Fry cue that recently sold on Ebay for something like 38 bucks because people didn't know what they were looking at and most likely judged it import junk. I know people PMed me about it and said exactly that. I recognized it and wanted to buy it but got called into a meeting at work and missed the end of the auction. There are plenty of experts, collectors, and dealers watching Ebay that walked right past that cue.

I have seen other valuable and/or collectible go the same way on Ebay that never even got mentioned in these forums and I know there are others here watching Ebay like me.

I am never so quick to judge such things.

If it's a Bushka and your friend can prove it..............he is soon to
be a very wealthy man. :D
However, tell him not to quite his day job yet.

The cue appears to be an import cue to me that was made sometime during the 1970's. The design on the cues forearm looks very similar to the Brunswick Cues made in Japan, and the cues weight bolt also says the same thing to me.

It really does look sort of like some of those Brunswick imports. They had some fancy handles. I never saw one exactly like this, but you are right, it does have that kind of flavor about it.
