Very nice pictures Dick. You may be right, that might be too good for some cues that you would NEVER want to have pics that close up.

Which makes me wonder, can the photos and technique be too good and somehow show gluelines and little flaws that the naked eye cannot see? Would someone then hold that against said cuemaker?

You are absolutely correct, at 10 mega pixels I could see things the eye doesn't catch and now at 25 mega pixels the condition is multiplied 2.5 times.

The top photo is typical of what is published on the internet and minute flaws are not evident. I only put up the other two photos to show the power of the camera. The bottom photo is the actual size produced in the camera and it is not macro photography, the camera was about four feet from the cue.

The photo comes out of the camera at 6000+ pixels wide, a 19" monitor displays about 1200 pixels wide, if I published the full photo it would span across five monitors.

No cuemaker's work work is 100% perfect, people should realize and accept that fact. A 10X loupe will show the same detail and inherent flaws.
