Hello Az, I know that some will find this not very interesting and to those I am sorry. However, for those who collect billiards items, or who build cues like myself these are an interesting part of billiards history.

I have collected these tips over the last 20 years, and I am always looking for box's of tips I do not have, so please PM me if anyone has any for sale.

Below are photo's of my collection:

The following tips were produced for Brunswick, these tips go back to approximately the early 1920's and go through to when Brunswick stopped having tips made.

The following are tips that were made in France. The small round box is the oldest and it is approximately from the 1880's the other box's of tips are from between 1890 to around 1920. Now these tips were imported into the USA, during these times frames since there were none to my knowledge being produced. I had a small box marked JM Brunswick that I thought was tips however they were not.

BLUE DIAMONDS

Isn't that still around? or different these days. Do you install any of these old tips for laughs or have they dried out too much? In any event seeing them is cool. Thanks for sharing.

These tips were made in Chicago from the turn of century farword. This company also produced Chalk, they were the original makers of Triangle brand chalk and a major billiards distribute throughout the last century.

The Blue Diamonds pictured are from the 1950's. Most of the box's pictured are still of tips. I do install them on collectible antique cues that I restore. I also have a hardness tester for tips, and some of them are still used for special customers who like the hit. Which one's I use are my secret, but sometimes tips that are 50 or 60 years old still are not dry rotted.

Thanks for the kind words!!!!!

Manwon!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed viewing your collection, very interesting. Looks as though you you have worked hard in putting it together. There are many aspects to billiard history cues, tips, posters, autographs, pictures an more. I only have one box of older tips. They are Kieckhefer Triangles but I see you have a box. Thanks for posting pics an the history lesson............

Is he just collecting tip boxes with tips or would he like some empty boxes also? I won't be on line much, and may not read this thread again, so PM me if he wants some modern empty boxes that I did not see in the picture. Or email me at cueman@cuesmith.com
I have several boxes that are not in the pictures.

Last summer i bot 4 tips and 4 old pieces of chalk that were to have come from some spinster sisters' basement in North Carolina; supposedly been in the basement with an old pool table since the 50's. The chalk was VERY fine grit and plays well. I never installed the tips, they had a blue crystalline texture on the upper surface- kind of like a wet/rusted old copper penny. Is that from a curing process? Anyway I thot they would be fun to have. I'm getting of the age to appreciate these things that are not around anymore.

Thanks again for sharing.

The tips in the Luscher box were probably made by somone else and repackaged by Luscher. I live in Rochester NY and have seen a few Luscher tables. They date back to the early 1900's and are very solid tables. During their heyday, Eastman Kodak had an entire room of 9 footers in the recreation center. A friend of mine still has the 8' Luscher table that his father bought used in the 1950's. Plays rock solid. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
