I just received a package courtesy of UPS. A little over five feet of PVC with custom fitted wooden stoppers snugged into the ends with a matched pair of countersunk set screws holding each end in place. Hmmmm, either I have posted one time too many in the political(NPR) section and somebody has sent me a pipe bomb or the one piece cue from Cuebuddy has finally reached me!
Opening up the pipe after verifying nothing was ticking or sloshing around I found a little padding and a one piece cue. Dinged and nicked and I suspect none too straight, Tip gone but since the ferule was missing too the tip gone wasn't that big of a surprise.
You could say I wasn't a happy camper but you would be dead wrong! I have been trying to lay hands on one of these sticks to measure for almost four years now. Cuebuddy has been watching for one for me for a year or two himself and I have bid on several, reasonable prices, then outrageous, every time somebody else wanted the cue worse than I did.
Finally Jim packaged up his own cue out of his collection and shipped it to me, no charge, no deposit, even though we have never met. I was almost like a kid on Christmas morning when he has waited years to be old enough for a certain gift!
The cue will be carefully measured and then returned to Jim with my thanks, maybe even some left over Halloween candy enclosed. I posted this as a public thank you and to let other forum members know what kind of a guy Jim is if they didn't know already but another reason is that every thread about a deal gone bad runs for pages and pages. We need to remember that for every deal gone bad there are dozens of totally unselfish acts like Jim's. When one of our own needs help or their spirits brightened the response is always great too.
Chalk up another one for the good guys of AZB and Cuebuddy! All I can say is thanks again, you can hardly imagine how much this is appreciated.
