The three I am currently working with have all given me ETA's of 12 to 16 weeks ....So that seems to be pretty standard but then again as you know it also has alot to do with how the cue is going to be built and what all is involved inlays , wraps , etc ...

I'm very pleased with the work of all three cue makers thier updates and craftsmanship and communications lead me to believe I have chosen well... I don't mind if they run behind on how much time it takes to build the cues as I would rather they take thier time and I have a quality cue instead of a piece of junk that I can't use.

thats my steady rest. the rollers are bearings. i need to do some work on that still. they are kind of small. gonna make larger ones out of roller skate wheels, (whenever i can find my old roller skates) LOL

Eddie, It takes whatever time it takes to complete a cue.
If one or two fishing trips or a day or two away from the shop is what it takes then so be it.
I do not like to rush things and do my best work when I can just go at my own pace without thinking about a deadline.
After all that cue will be around for many years after you deliver it and is representative of your work.

I think that others have pointed out that if you keep your customer posted with the progress (and setbacks) you will not have much of a problem with wait time.
When they get the cue and see your quality craftsmanship they will forget all about how long it took to get it.

how true this is.when i started i was quoting 3-4 months and i have fallen slightly behind.i think i am a little under 2 months behind in my order book.when one set of cues falls behind then the next does and the next and so on and so on.it seems like there is always one cue per batch that wants to be trouble.anyway like i said i have fallen behind by a month or two,but nobody has been putting pressure on me.most guys don't even say anything at all,and the ones that do just ask very politely.great bunch of guys here at AZ,and i will just keep cranking them out.

Absolutely! First came the let's not bash the other cue maker for being slow to deliver and now comes the "turn around time " .Before you know it there will be a cue discount offer just to end the suffering of all people in the world.Nothing like transparent exploitation of your competitor's misery to increase sales? No, that's not it, could'nt be, he was being sincere.

this is my opinion too. i would rather it take longer and be told that upfront than to be lied to and misled. word of mouth travels alot faster than most people think it does.
 
in conclusion: doesnt matter what the time is as long as you put out good product and better customer service.

To answer your question I've gone anywhere from 4 months to 2 years and still happily waiting. Depends on the cue maker on how long I'm willing to wait. As long as I know close to the time frame I'm happy. When someone says 2 months and it turns into 7 I'm unhappy. If someone says a year and it turns into year and 2 months I'm ok with that. Longer the initial wait the easier I tend to be if I know about it.
 
Hell, honestly Brent most of the time I don't even think about the cue you are making me ... I really forget your making me one ... Guess when you do get it done it will be a pleasant surprise .
 
All i ask for is that you give me an estimate of when it will be done and keep me informed on the progress ie it will be done 3 weeks sooner than expected or such and such happened you still have another 2 months.

Well to me as a customer its important to be kept up to date pics are great if you have the time as a cue maker. I have to tell you Brent is one of the BEST as far as his personal customer touch.

Back to the question of 90-120 days turn around time, to me that is working your ass off. i dont like to wait myself as i'm 60 and cant wait 10 yrs for a cue that i dont even know if i'd like, just me but i love new and upcoming cue makers who can put out. This is in no way saying anything neg about the cue artist who's cues i could never afford. I think there is a place for all. i enjoy every one anyone is willing to share.

Yep I forgot to add that. I have all kinds of pics that he has sent as progress pics. Some I havent shown in my thread. Jim has been great on sending the pics as well so like I said I dont mind the wait. I know alot of other cuemakers that do the same and of course we know of some that dont at all. COMMUNICATION is key!

I dont know you and you dont know me, but I would LOVE to keep seeing the progress on that cue! Atleast post a finished product, I think that cue is awesome!!!
