Cuemakers

If you cuemakers, or suppliers have business cards, I will be happy to provide them to people who are wanting a custom cue, or billiards related items. I am also considering ordering 1 cue from about 20 cuemakers to put up in the pool hall so I can sell and promote your cues. I have 1 cuemaker that is letting me borrow one of his basic cues to let people try it out to possibly get some business going his way.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM or email me at

ftgokie@yahoo.com

Thanks
Shawn

I will have a new pool hall in the next couple of weeks. 13,000 sq foot, no alcohol, or smoking will be allowed inside.

Congratulations Shawn, I wish you the best, where is room going to be located and how many tables are you going to have?

Where will your room be?

Are you quiting your day job?

Damn, I guess I forgot the important part

It will be in Muskogee Okla......and no, I will still keep my day job at the Veterans Administration...

As of right now
10, brand new Valley Bar Box
1, old Brunswick Medalist 10' Snooker Table
7, 9' Gold Crown II
10, 8' Brunswick Medalist tables

Going to get rid of the 8' tables and either get 2 Diamond 9' tables, or 2 more Gold Crown's, and then get 6 more Valley Bar Boxes, or 6 brand new Diamond bar boxes..I will know more on exactly what to do in the next 2-3 weeks

I suggest the Diamond boxes, and 9ers. Congrats on the room. I'll visit as soon as I can.

No Booze???

Hi,

I own a 11,000.00 sq. ft. pool hall and I can tell you in my opinion that a liquor license is essential in this market economy. Unless there is high employement in your area for some reason you should try to add a bar.

I my area ,(NW Chicago Burbs) 7 pool halls that were very successful have closed in the last 2 years. 5 of them had a bar.

Go the the room owner discussion area of AZ and read some threads.

I can tell you from my personal experience that until the economy gets better I don't think pool halls without a bar is a winning proposition.

Good Luck,

Rick

Where in Muskogee?

Good luck with your endeavor.

Maybe Shawn can post an online map to assist AZer's that visit the sprawling metropolis, and make sure your GPS is working correctly.

Congrats on your new room Shawn, it sounds like it's going to be a cool place.

Hi Rick and thanks for the input. There is a pool hall here in Muskogee that is smoke and alcohol free and they do very well, and that pool hall has been that way for 12 yrs.

There will always be a need for a place for people to go that do not smoke or drink. I realize that there could be more money made if we did go with smoking and drinking, but that is not what I want.

I gotta agree. It's even tough to have large tourneys where players can't take a shot to calm nerves or have a beer between matches. But most importantly, most 21 & over players want booz. They don't want to hang out in a room full of sodas & kids while they socialize with their pals over a pitcher of beer, and certainly not while they're trying to put in quality table time. That's just the demographics. Begin considering income sources & you'll surely find alcohol sales grossly trump table time & snacks. It might be something to consider.

I used to live in the "sprawling metropolis", smart-ass ;) , and just wondered where it will be located. Guess I should have PM'd. :p

I agree with Eric. However, I wish Shawn all the best in his new endeavor.
I will be sending him a cue from a new series of cues I am working on.

I'm proud to be an Oakie From Muskogee.

Arlo Guthrie used to sing the Merle Haggard song at his concerts back in the 60's,
and the story he told about his visit to Muskogee is hilarious.

I think Shawn has some good ideas, especially to display several different custom cues.
I hope he does very well.
Good luck to the new room in Muskogee.
