Hello!

A few days ago I've started looking for a list or something regarding to these two pool-masters cues used - ever.
I would like to know who made them a cue, I'm just curious. I am familiar with almost all the other pro's cues used - of course not with all - but I would like to know what these two Filipinos have ever had in their hands.
However this has nothing to do with the brand of my new stick, the reason for my question is that I've been asked about so many times recently and I never managed to give a proper answer.

I can't provide any info on the Cues of Bustamante and Reyes.

I can show you a glimpse of Bustie's case, though! :D

Last I heard Reyes played with a Judd and Busta played with a Bear cue.

Theres a video of reyes using a Meucci ss-15. Also a cue that efren played the finals in some .. big tourney was a meucci that he signed and it sold on ebay not too long ago for only 380.00 (maybe because he lost that match I dunno). Both shafts look like he had shot with it for 30 years though haha.

Have you ever seen his hands while he plays? They become thoroughly blue from the chalk...he avoids washing them for fear of washing away the luck. Yes, Efren is superstitious.

Does anyone know who made that famous $10 filipino cue that he came to the US with in '85? He played with that cue until it was stolen in something like '94 or 95. That's how he ended up with Meucci...for a short period of time. He played the $100k Color of Money match with that Meucci.

This is an example of how he cakes chalk between his fingers.

Or doesn't want his hands to deveop the shakes. None of the pro players here wash their hands after any kind of physical exertion.

It wasn't stolen. I was told that a collector bought it for quite a chunk of change. I think that he's now playing with a Japanese made cue.
 
Reyes and Bustamante both use Predator BKs from what i saw
playing cue Bustamante uses Bear and Reyes seems to always switch

And Bustamante I think is normally playing a "Bear" cue, with a Black Boar Shaft.

I called judd to get one of his cues and ,as expected, he wanted 600 for a plain jane cue. I know he must have fine craftsmanship but woooo 600 is a little pricey for me=(
 
Anyone have that link that had a pretty good listing of what the pros used, it was a thread about a month ago?
 
Thanks Edwin for the information on Jesus Bundalian (Jessie) and the correction. I don't know what to make of the hand-washing thing. LOL.

The pic you provided is very revealing of an important pool fundamental often overlooked. It is a fundamental learned well by the subject of the photo and Buddy Hall to name just two. Notice where the tip of the cue is at the end of the backstroke......it is back as far as it can go unless you want to shoot your index finger off. This may be one of the "secrets" of the big stroke.

Weird site for a cue builder. The guy does a lot of rambling. Seems like he really enjoys writing on it.

Does anyone know anything about these cues? He claims his "old growth" shafts have the lowest deflection of any shafts on the market.
 
New Cue

I was in Tom Cokers shop during the sacramento tourney a few weeks ago.
And bustamante was having a cue built, with his profile inlayed in it I think.

The Filipino term is "PASMA." It's the involuntary shaking when you are trying to get your hand steady. It is believed that you get the condition when you try to wash your hands while it is still tired or even sweaty.

Lol. A little off topic here, but that Efren is always so unassuming with his protective glasses :p ... I think that pix was taken shortly after his Lasik surgery if I'm not mistaken.

That does seem to make sense though for the slow growth wood ... tighter grain makes for sturdier cue with less deflection ...
 
I have owned

one of Ronnie's cues for 2 years and love it. He is a proponent of longer cues for longer people and I have a 64" he built and love it. He is eccentric and does ramble, but makes a good cue. They are pricey, but at the time he was the only one who would make a cue the way i wanted it.
 
Efren's early cues

Efren had a favorite cue maker named Teddy (sp) Santes, (Jake) who lived in Angeles City, Philippines. Jake made most of Efrens cues, and did just aboout all of his shaft work up until signing with Meucci just before his $100,000 "Color of Money" match with Earl held in Hong Kong. I've personally bought and sold nearly a 100 of Teddy's cues over the past 20 years and they were excellent. I'm told Teddy has left Angeles City for Manila and I've lost contact with him. Super good friend at one time and a really great cue maker.

Ask Efsren who made the best shafts he ever used and I'd be really surprised if didn't say it was Jake.
