custom 2x4 cases

patience

I'm probably among the first 6 or 7 on the production list, but am feeling less anxious than some of you. I paid in full in advance, which some may criticize, but I had a gut feeling about Chaz and was willing to take the chance. I don't need another case, I just wanted to see what Chaz could do and liked being able to customize something with him. I'm not surprised by the delays. The relatively poor communication is unfortunate, but complaining about it has not seemed to be effective for anybody, so I'm not going to start.

Let's be honest: if Chaz had priced his first cases higher than he did, he probably wouldn't have gotten any takers. All of us early buyers are jumping on what we see as a bargain. Therefore, in my opinion, we have willingly taken the risk of unpredictability. You can't expect Chaz to have the same level of control and customer service as a seasoned pro like John Barton.

I like Chaz's chances of pulling this off. If I'm patient and don't rush him, I'm more likely to get a nicer case in the long run. This is something of a gamble, but if we temper our expectations, isn't it kind of fun, too?

You have a very up-beat and positive attitude about this. This type of attitude will bring you a happy life and you'll treat your world with love. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the kind words and for the rep too.

LOL - if you only knew. Some of my customers on this forum are very patient people. I guess most feel that the wait is worth when I finally do get their case to them. And I suspect that this will be similar when Chaz' customers finally get their cases when compared to the price paid.

There is a lot to making cases. Good ones at least. Anyone can make a crappy case. There are thousands of leather workers out there making crappy products in the USA and around the world. People on the leather working forum complain all the time about JoeEbay Leather Worker who is selling crap and undercutting their prices. So my guess - and this is completely and utterly a guess - is that Chaz is looking at the finished product and thinking that he should improve on it and those improvements are slowing up the process.

And trust me when I tell you that learning on the fly is a huge task for a one man operation. I don't honestly really know what DirtyPool can do for Chas at this point other than to say something drop everything and work ONLY on Felix's case and then ONLY on Bencho's case and so on.

I know that I myself am hurting for people to help me get a handle on our own orders. I am months behind and getting deeper. I am trying not to take any new orders and it's not working. I have NO clue as to how many orders Chaz has and can only imagine that he comes home after a long day at work and looks now at another long night at "work". Because trust me, when you get overwhelmed with orders and you have taken deposits then it's not "fun" anymore, it's work.

Now, back to the 39 unanswered PMs and 50 unanswered emails asking for either a status on an order or for quotes on new orders.

And yes, I am screwing off by posting instead of answering emails. ;-)

Anyone want to be my manager???

I have no dog in this fight, but I agree it's unforchinate , but more patience should be taken. The more presure the less likely you will like the product.

Well, . . . .

Well What? I see you edited your original post as stated below:

Chazzdillon Case Review Request

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here you posted a thread in the Cue Review section about wanting people to post reviews on Chaz cases....and you state "I'm thinking about buying one"

This is a request both to help Chaz a bit and to let you guys show off your new cases! Ok, it is also because I'm thinking about buying one!

So, please show them off and tell us how they are working out for toting your cues around. Please post pics, if you can. Would love to see them. Maybe it would help those waiting?

Let me ask you "patient" posters how patient someone is to be when these Shananigans are going on?

You did not receive a case. One of two things, your being put up to this or you "think" your helping Chaz.....believe me, your not helping anything. Your adding to the frustration of this process.
If your not involved, stay out.

don't post if you don't know what happened.

He edited his post at my request.

He bought my case that i had gotten from chaz. No shenanigans, and he wasn't put up to anything.

When i saw he wanted one, i offered him mine. Only because i was shipping him other stuff anyway.

WHY JAB THE GUY IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED?

I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A DICK, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE NOT HAPPY THAT YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR CASE YET, BUT IT'S NOT HIS FAULT.

TAKE IT OUT ON THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE, OR JUST ASK FOR A REFUND.

I'M SORRY IF IT PISSED YOU OFF, BUT THERE WAS NO HARM MEANT TO ANYBODY. I JUST WANTED MY SALE TO REMAIN PRIVATE.

I am commenting on what was read in posts on the forum, you can't tell me this doesn't look odd.
Either him or yourself could have PM'd me based on my first post about this.
Thank you for clearing this up, but I understand you had to publicly repute my comments.
Hopefully I have a case waiting at home....I should based on what I have been told.

I Agree!!!!

I felt it so suspicius I had to call Chaz but have no fear my worries soon disapeared. I didnt know it was felt masters case but I did get assured that my money still had a chance at evolving into a case.

The fact that his post said that and was removed was very suspicius. I do now understand the full situation and it has nothing to do with us or our case's.

Man, I LOVE that guy's attitude.

Hang in there, one at a time, we ARE building your cases, and you will end up with a dreat product!

Thanks John, it's like you looked into my head.

I'm putting out fires with a microphone... "no stop THAT, and do THIS instead!". Chaz can only work so fast, and he IS working hard, it's just a deep hole of back orders we're trying to dig out of, one.... at.... a..... time.

As soon as we get close on one guy's case another guy gets to the end of their patience. I'm stuck in the middle tap dancing, hoping, yes sometimes praying, things start flowing better, and that once delivered we turn folks around.

I'm not normally a "hands off" guy, and it's driving me crazy not being able to help any more than absorbing the brunt of the customer service traffic.

This will be my last contribution to this thread as I am not really helping and I have my own orders to attend to.

At some point you need to make a list that starts with the first person who ordered a case from you. I am sure you already have that.

If you are able to go and help then do so. When a case is done then you handle the packing and labeling and shipping.

Everyone else: I have four people working for me. If I completely do NOT COUNT the time spent designing a case and communicating back and forth with the customer it takes my FOUR people anywhere from 2-5 days depending on the case to complete it from scratch.

Of course not all four people are working on one case at the same time. So if we distill it down to one person - one day then each case takes 16 to 40 hours to construct when starting from zero. Not counting design time. And that's NOW when we already have most of our patterns and processes worked out.

In Chaz's situation you have a single guy with no experience who jumped in with both feet and started marketing heavily before having his processes in order. I would be surprised if he can make more than one case per week at this point IF each case is full of custom requests.

So the math is pretty simple here, 30 hours on average per case - 1 guy = one case per week IF he puts in the time each week and has what he needs.

Of course if you get overwhelmed then what you end up with is a bunch of orders and half-started cases. I know this from personal experience.

Anyway, I am sure it will all work out somehow. Me, I am trying to figure out a way to follow in Jack's model. He never has issues, posts pics of completed cases, gets more orders, delivers them, and repeats. And out produces us all from his laundry room. :-) Of course he probably has his methods down to a science by now but he's a great model to follow when it comes to delivering consistently on time.

Well said, as always John.

The list, I have been scratching and tugging out of him. Chaz is an artist, not a meticulous accountant, and translating his notes, to something I can manage as a flow has been a project all it's own. (I'm an ops advisor and training manager by profession, so I see little difference between a maintenance flow on 17 airframes, and a production flow on 17 cases).

I am going to contact each person on that list THIS WEEK. No, I will not post a list, or the details of the case, that's up to them if they want to.

So the math is pretty simple here, 30+ hours on average per case - 1 guy = one case per week IF he puts in the time each week and has what he needs.

You're right of course, and that doesn't take into account the blind alleys of dyes, tools, material experiments, and a busted sewing machine. Plus he is working all night 5-6 nights a week trying to make his bills, and had his car broken into last week. Being productive during the day after busting it all night it tough at best.

To say things have not gone smoothly would be an epic understatement.

I'm going to sign off of this thread until I can make sense of the "list" and contact everyone. Then I'll be back with an open call to any I have NOT contacted and with a little luck we'll see some positive reviews of cases by then.

Hang in there guys, I know it's frustrating, but as JB has laid out, it's easy to understand and Chaz IS working on your case.

Here's a quick snap of Dom's case, delivered this weekend.

I know he has better pics and stories

I don't get together with Chaz as much as I would like, we work opposite schedules. I saw this case when Dom did, and I gotta tell ya' I was impressed.:thumbup2:

I am more confident than ever that you're going to love your cases.

Hang in there guys, they are coming. :duck:
