Going to college today with no high school diploma is not as difficult as it once was. The community colleges offer prerequisites to take. Danny can qualify for a Pell grant and find a career, if he can choose one that he is as passionate about as pool.
It can be done. I dropped out of high school and started a family at a young age. At 30 years old I had to reinvent myself due to corporate down sizing. I found myself back in the job market with few prospects and no diploma or college.
I decided to take the test for my GED. My wife said I probably wouldn't pass without taking the prep classes but I gave it a shot. I wanted to have my GED in time to start the fall semester in college. So I took it. I got a perfect score on my Science, missed a couple on the Math and barely passed the English.

I started classes, got my degree and landed a decent job. It wasn't easy but if you put your mind to it and don't mind going in debt to Sallie Mae you can do it!
Danny is such a great guy you can't help but like him. I hope there are good things coming for him in his future, he could use a few rolls in life.
