What happenned to his jaw ?--Leonard

Danny was Downtown on Fremont Street Las Vegas at a Tournament being held at the Plaza Hotel and Casino or BINIONS ..just having won some money he went outside across the street and some locals citizens asked for a donation- of all his money, he refused and they proceeded to ask him again- the old fashioned way. In his own words he told me he almost died due to effectiveness of the old fashion way being asked by 4 to 6 citizens in need...so let that be a lesson to the rest of you.....
WHEN REQUESTED.... DONATE.

or putting another.what happened to his jaw ? BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA.

on behalf of Mr.Medina, thank you for question.

Some of you Old School players and readers, like myself, might wonder what exactly is a "Touring Professional Pool Player", so l checked it out......according my sources, a "Touring Professional Pool Player" is ..... a " Road Player-with a Plan " . [smiles]

Would of loved too see Danny (I call em Dino) in his bar table prime, play Matlock in his prime, and might as well toss the Ether in there too, but Dino was First a bar/road player for MANY years before he went to the big tables. His break shot rivaled David Howards.

I agree 100% as that would have been fun to watch. Danny in those days had that thunderbolt break. I'm not too sure I've seen anyone equal it yet.
His game plan was always the same too. Go for any and everything he could see. He thought a safe is where banks kept money.

I watched Greg Stevens back in the late 70's beat him like 30 games at the old Jolly Roger up on Federa in Denver. Stevens never missed a ball. Danny agreed to play the next day at 3:00 pa. Greg came walking in with Andy DeJesus and his entrouge about 3:30 and Danny was spittin mad.

They played until about 5:00 AM and Danny won seveal games, but didn't quite get even. He was still just spittin mad.

That was the same night that Phil Noble picked me up over his shoulder and then bent down and lifted on end of the table off the ground with the other hand. I was going about 225 at the time.

That was the only time I saw Danny get beat in the Jolly Roger.

Then in a promise to his brother on his death bed he switched to big tables and briefly became #1 in the US.

Medina experience

I debated whether to tell about my only experience with Medina as it is not what you could call a positive one, but he goes:

Back in the late 80's, I was playing in a Rumor's tournament, a 64 player 9 ball tournament. All the Oklahoma players were there, Matlock was there, and some pretty salty players. I went to the bathroom and had to wait at the door. The pay phone was next to the door. Danny Medina was on the phone talking to someone back in Illinois or Ohio, I believe, at the time telling them that he had got into a little Podunk tournament in Wichita, Ks, and that he would probably win the tournament.

As it happens, I had to play him in the tournament. His break does not stand out in my memory as being particularly good. The score was 6-5 in Danny's favor, and he misses what I consider to be a fairly easy 7 ball. The 7 ball rolls up past the side pocket about a diamond and a half with the eight ball right inbetween. This was before I started jumping balls, and I had to long rail kick the 7. It left Danny a shot, and he got out, beating me 7-5.

But, as far as winning the tournament, he didn't, and if my memory serves me right, he didn't even cash.

The reason Danny beat Efren at the Rivera in Vegas (World??) 8-Ball finals was because of his BREAK. He was the only player that could really BUST em up, and making 2-4 balls every time on a 9 foot playing 8-ball gave him a HUGE advantage over the other players.

That's Danny in my avatar with Strickland meeting up at the McD Masters final way back when. I was fortunate enough to be there and Danny's break definitely stands out in my mind, cueball flying straight up a couple of feet and coming down and squatting mid table.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Danny play. It was back in the early 90's at a McDermott Tour event at Shooters in Olathe.

He beat my local (St. Louis hometown) pool hero at the time Little Ricky Vanum, on a 9footer playing cheap practice. Danny actually lapped the coin around the table on Ricky. I was shaking my head. I had never seen anyone make Ricky look that weak. Ricky was playing fantastic pool at the time.

If Danny teaches the way he plays, one could learn a lot.

I would classify his style as 'firepower'!

This is the exact same story I was thinking of when I saw this thread. They were only playing for $5 a game and Danny was 20 games winner in just over an hour. Ricky told me that it was the greatest display of 9 ball that he had ever seen - and this the same Ricky that grew up watching St Louie Louie play.

Danny Medina Accepts Challenge Match

l have private messaged the Challenger of the acceptance of the CHALLENGE MATCH on behalf of Mr Medina.

The proposed challenge is a -$5000 or up 10 ball long race- and the challenger would like the match to be streamed on TAR .

With the acceptance to the Challenge all we can do is await the response. I recommend the challenger post so that he can identify himself to you and announce the match.

To The Challenger......
On behalf of Mr.Medina he thanks you for stepping up and wishes you good luck

(Details still have to be worked out but Danny has done his part, let's roll )

Did Danny ever play Keith on the Bar box in Keiths prime

Did anyone see Danny play keith on a bar box? They were both great bar box players and wondering if Danny or Keith had any comments about playing each other?
