"in the middle" is a pool streaming invention.

Walk into any pool hall around the world and ask how much 2 people are gambling for. You get that real answer! its the per man bet.

I am not sure if it really makes any difference from a gambling legality perspective, but I also believe its to try to promote these as "2 man tournaments"

either way, the bet is 75k!

The term "In the middle" has been around forever...probably a poker term...
...but I've been using it all my life.

It's not all that complicated....if you're playing for $100...two handed..there's $200 in the
middle...if you're playing three handed for $100...there's $300 in the middle.

The confusion comes from misrepresenting...they learned it from politicians...

Maybe so, but no pool people used to talk like that!

Maybe nobody talked like that in your gambling circles....
...but they did in mine....and that includes Detroit, Chicago, Jacksonville, Pensacola,
Oklahoma City, Amarillo, LA, Frisco, Kansas City....and a lot in between.

It makes perfect sense, Bmore...you walk into a room with a gambling match going on...
....lotta sweaters......you ask what's going on?...they say they're playing for $4,000 in
the middle...but there's gotta be $20,000 bet on the outside.

the 'middle' is sometimes called the 'center' also.

But, lol, has he ever shown you the inside of his SUV with 'BET HIGH' leather-tooled into all the seats, the black lights, and with an led panel in the back that lights up to humbly declare: 'THE FREEZER'

Looking in from the open back trunk lid >>>

Yeah he bets high alright-He managed to lose everything he won (100K plus) from Dippy Dave in one week at the ARIA Casino while staying in the whale suite. Im surprised he even has a vehicle.

Okay, Bmore, I get the impression from your posts that you are experienced in action...
...and that you're double smart ( only Fats was triple smart )...soooo..
If two guys are playing a set for two thou....and many of the spectators are betting on the
outcome amongst themselves.....and you asked "What's going on?"...can it be described
any better than 'Playing for four thou in the middle....and there's twenty thou on the outside."

Please try to keep it as brief as this succinct description.

Response has always been they're playing for $2k.

Hey man isn't that what I did yesterday when we played? Though I have to believe my happy dance is more stylish than Pulpul's.

Haha indeed although your Pulpul-dance was for making an absurdly good shot, and NOT as an expression of schadenfreude against me running out and forgetting to call a hanger. You get a pass :D

Given the whispers about other supposed big-money events not actually being played for the advertised amount, and then the French fiasco, it's reasonable to ask questions about this.

It is okay for you guys to speculate but I am not the type of person to bullshit you. I have a good deal of integrity in the pool world I feel and certainly would not get involved with something that was smoke and mirrors. I have been privy to the conversations between all involved through group messaging. The money is real and I am sure if Jay Helfert talks to Dennis he can confirm that here too.

What John French did certainly hurt pool for his little 15 minutes of fame, these guys involved are respected backers and the room owner is also very respected. Let me keep working on getting this stream to be free for everyone to watch, hopefully those of you out there appreciate it. If it was about money for me and them then I would just do the PPV but I feel there is another way.

Are there even a 100,000 pool fans out there?

Much more actually. Lots of people love pool but only so many will pay to watch it. Free opens it up to a large audience who like the big money being played for plus those around the world who can't afford to get a stream.

I already spoke with Dennis about this match. He has well heeled backers so no problem on his end. I think the same can be said for Scott as well. The only thing that would disrupt things is if one player opted out at the last minute for any reason. If 10K each has already been posted then there is little concern about that either. Lenny, can you confirm this?

P.S. Lenny, I think you're heading in the right direction with this stream. The match is captivating enough to draw a large audience and therefore commercial rights become valuable. Basically the same as free TV on all the networks. It's a tried and proven method for success. I wish I could be there to watch and commentate, but if not I'll be watching too.

Lenny, I wish yall luck and hope it goes off flawlessly. But to be honest, and I'm sure you have already thought of this, one pocket will not draw the widespread interest as other games. I love one hole and pretty much all I play and love watching great players but to much of the masses they are not really gonna understand it or flat out just not like it. Hopefully you can do something to change that but I believe that's where it's at right now.Any word on if gonna be looped yet thanks!

Dennis is a fantastic player no doubt and I think match will be close. If Dennis gets ahead might run away with it but seen him get all flustered multiple times especially when shane drilled his nuts in on TAR

Dennis is not very well liked for a few questionable decisions lets say
its great that he is cool with bergman but he has also had some super shady behavior in the past

what hasnt been discussed yet which im surprised is just last year dennis pulled the wool over our eyes when he played KO at steinway and the bet was fake and they chopped up the stream

then the game with shane that was supposed to be 100k he got found out about that where he just wanted to promote it get paid for playing not bet and chop the stream

the fact scotts best pal lenny is doing the stream raises concern for its legitimacy as scott has arguably a worse rep that dennis

interested to hear bergmans thoughts on frost as they have had "altercations" in the past

if this becomes free, i will do my best so that the entire Filipino pool community online will watch and support this.
