Dennis vs Scott for $150k..?

That is a non issue, to me.

It should be a great clash, as long as they both come to play.

Yeah, why care about the exact amount of money they are playing for? We all should know that they would not be traveling to that small town (from who knows how far away) if it were not to play for a good amount of money. They will not be playing each other just for fun. It will be a great match, I imagine. The amount of money they are playing for will not change how good of a match it will be to watch. I mean, because it will not be your (the fans) money they are playing for.

I actually agree with you but it seems like over the last 5 years or so the vernacular has changed to include both bets as the actual bet. Not sure why; maybe to pump it up and make it sound bigger than it actually is???? I have ALWAYS been under the impression that if someone says they are playing for $75,000, that's meant each player had put up $75,000 each for a total of $150,000 in the middle. As I said , in recent times many are saying they are playing for $150,000, which is the total amount in the middle. Some will specify " in the middle " while many will not. Maybe it's said like that to drive PPV sales, I don't know but I still use the old school version where if they are playing for $75,000 that still means each side is putting up $75,000 - for a total purse of $150,000.

That's my point, I fail to understand why it has to be promoted as higher than the risk really is....after all, you can't win back what you haven't lost. I guess it's a male thing, kind of like...."honey, I'll give you 12" and make it hurt....she said do it....so I stroked her 4 times and slapped her once"

I believe it started at the Packman' tournament in the Philippines, I think DO called a foul on Shane because he didn't call an obvious shot in the game....and figured if DO was going to pull shit like that then forget it....Shane forfeited the match right there.

I remember hearing about that, but it was a different story that I heard (with 2 other players, in the finals of that tournament?), so I assume that this same type of situation happened at least a few times in that tournament. I think it was a pretty stupid rule, to have to call the 9 ball. That is just silly, I think. These are world class players. They should not have to call the last ball on the table.

I'll never forget because at the same tournament we witnessed Pulpul proving he is one of the biggest douchebags in the history of douchebaggery:

Wow, I'd never seen that before. This is why I think the referee should have discretion over whether or not a shot is obvious in call-shot or call-pocket games. The ref should have the authority to rule that Biado's shot in the side was obvious, even though he forgot to call it.

Have you ever been around the guy? Ever listened to him talk? Ever been around him outside a pool hall? Ever had him tell you how much his watch cost, how much his Jordan's cost, how much his shirt cost, ad nauseum? Ever listened to him telling people how good he is, how fearless he is, ad nauseum? Ever listened to him tell people how fly he looks because of his wardrobe?

But, lol, has he ever shown you the inside of his SUV with 'BET HIGH' leather-tooled into all the seats, the black lights, and with an led panel in the back that lights up to humbly declare: 'THE FREEZER'

Wow that's a sorry example of sportsmanship. The second video is one of the most extreme displays of desperation that I've ever seen. Things like that show you what kind of person they really are.

We are working on getting enough sponsors and possibly fan support via contributions to make it free. Should know soon as we have a few sponsors committed already. As soon as you do ppv your audience is 1% of what a free stream would be which is not good for sponsors. I was approached with doing a ppv but pushed for the free stream and all involved like the idea.
Any plans on selling personal copies on dvd or flash drive!

I got to work! Can't watch at the times they will be playing! Maybe you will loop the video???

Our over seas viewers would appreciate it!

My thoughts.

If a NASCAR promoter said the winning driver gets 500,000 bucks, they would get 500,000 bucks. If a tennis promoter said the winner gets 100,00 bucks, they would get 100,000 bucks and so on, even for a world champion game of darts.

If 2 pool players say they are going to play for 150,000 bucks, who knows if they will even show up and how much they are really putting on the line.

How many sporting events require the player to put up money to win money?

That should give one an idea how popular pool is to the viewing public.

Lol. I am a bit of an audiophile so I have always loved the JL's, headrests not so much. I will say this, in no way is this as bad as someone who can't back it up. Think about it, in the conversation for best one holer in the world and getting ready to play for 75. How often do you see stuff like this from an A PA 5 THAT wants to bet $20 bucks agame lol?

I was at that tournament. They played call shot on all balls. The players hated it, but the amateur organizers stuck to that rule throughout, causing many foul calls.

Lenny,

Thanks for all the effort around this. I will watched PPV or not. I think its makes great sense to try to keep them free if the audience is that big of a difference.

Obviously sponsors are trying to reach more people and this will do it...

"in the middle" is a pool streaming invention.

Walk into any pool hall around the world and ask how much 2 people are gambling for. You get that real answer! its the per man bet.

I am not sure if it really makes any difference from a gambling legality perspective, but I also believe its to try to promote these as "2 man tournaments"

either way, the bet is 75k!

What is the deal with watching this live? Are they selling tickets? Or just anyone can go watch at any time?

Thanks

What if they say they're playing for 75k each, but they're actually playing for a $2000 "Appearance Fee", only known to the players and maybe 3 other guys?

Wouldn't that bug you a bit?

I'm not saying it wouldn't be entertaining either way, but I think it damages pool in some way... who's gonna pay for a stream the next time a 5 or 6 figure match is advertised?

I agree 1000%. The actual bet matters in more than one way. Rail??? Think about it.
