I just wanted everyone to know that I believe Deno to be a stand up guy. I had an hour conversation with him where he was very candid with me and stated that his 3 best friends are IPT pool players and he would never do anything to hurt them and if he believed there was a chance of them not getting paid or anyone getting screwed over, he would quit in a heartbeat. He is not KT's lackey, in fact he has had differences with him on several matters and has direct input into some of KT's decisions that made it more favorable to the players.
As I had surmised in my earlier thread, Deno does not need the money and can go back to work anytime in his former profession. He is doing this for the love of pool and to make a great tour!
Deno does know the inner workings of the IPT and dispelled MANY of the rumors and second hand knowledge that has been put forth on AZB. These rumors have proliferated and taken on a life of its own here, until it seemed like fact. While much of our conversation must be kept confidential, I do have every confidence that things are rolling right along for Chicago, and that the players will get paid, one way or another, some time or another, with or without Ho.
The deal is indeed going through, HOpefully getting signed next week when Ho is in the states?
As far as the layoffs, yes, there are going to be layoffs, (no one knows for sure whom until tomorrow), for cash flow and budgetary reasons, but it is not as alarming as I had originally thought. I saw it as a sure sign that they were going down, but it really isn't. In fact, trimming the fat (my words) will allow the IPT to run leaner and more efficiently. The people involved...well, there are other reasons that can't be divulged why they are being let go, but there really are other good reasons.
I urge all those people who really do know and care for Deno to continue supporting him and his work, for others to back off the death threats, and for those who have questions to call him directly on his cell phone. I will pm it to you with his blessing if you want it. Deno is definitely on the side of us pool players and has our best interests at heart and will keep fighting for us.
I know I was upset and alarmed when I talked to Harry Platis and then I posted, but please do not yank your memberships, your qualifier entry fees or anything else. Deno did not even mention this, I am asking you myself. The IPT still has a pulse, and we can still choose to support it.
If you have any doubts or negative thoughts, PLEASE call Deno, instead of posting conjecture. I have absolutely NO doubts about his sincerity and credibility.
