Derby City action

The barking went to howling then to growling and I couldn't hold on anymore, gave up just after 1 am, went to bed.

Now I see I made a good decision.

When the stream had matches going, they have been very enjoyable to watch.

Thanks TAR!

Best,
Brian kc

Visited a table in the lobby yesterday with all the filipino players crowded around it. Francisco, Warren, Lee Vann, Dennis, Ronnie and Roberto all talking in Tagolog, their native language. They are laughing and joking and sharing their war stories of matches they have played so far. Six of the greatest pool players on planet Earth and all at one table. So much talent represented here!

I quietly inquire as to whether any of these guys have played anyone yet (you know - GAMBLE!). And this is in a room with over 100 of the best pool players in America and the world present. Lee Vann looks up at me and says, "No one will play me!" Dennis looks over at me and shakes his head in the affirmative also. I realize at that moment that the reason we are not seeing these guys in the TAR Action room or on the tournament floor gambling is because THEY PLAY TOO GOOD! Kind of scary huh?

Well if SVB and orcollo play tonight i think SVB takes it because he has something to prove that he is another filipino player better in the world. hopefully he play better than he did in 09 against busty.

Are any of them truly trying to get a game - are they expending some diligent effort? Is there a language barrier that becomes a factor in getting one?

It seems a little inhospitable that none of the host natives will entertain our Pinoy visitors. :( Shane? Corey?

BTW, does Johnny ever get into action at the Derby? How about Mika?

Thanks for the updates Jay, hope you're enjoying the gig.

Mika doesnt gamble much to begin with and i highly doubt he would while he is still in an event.

Shame there isn't more bigtime action

I heard the pinoy players have some pretty rich backers for the money games, is this true ?

Well, we do have Shane stepping up against Orcullo tonight. Maybe that will open the Pinoy action floodgate.

Hats off to Shane (and John too). Show 'em this Pinoy Puckerup legend is myth and bust 'em!!

Please see the action room to get your bet down lol KK9!

Yes, the filipino players have good backers/sponsors. It looks like only Shane is willing to step up to the plate and play any of them even. Shane has been in action every night! Last night he played Hennessey and gave him the nine and the last two in Ten Ball for a few thou and won 21-13. Shane vs. Dennis O. should be a good one.

Damn did he win the last 11 games in a row? They said SVB was down 13-12 while I was watching JJ and Richie play. Must have been a strong performance by SVB.

The two golden rules Mikey:

1) always bet on Shane
2) never bet against the filipinos

My betting cpu isn't leaning one way or the other on this one, seems like a pick 'em to me. But thanks for putting out the Welcome Matt on it.

Jay,
I know any of those guys in that room would play me cheap one pocket even-up, you know, to pass the time.

Would they play another top player, cheap nine ball or cheap ten ball, just to pass the time?

I know some of the gambling pro players don't like to put their business in the street, playing cheap anything, unless they are playing a banger like me.

The Filipinos OFTEN play cheap sets with one another in their own country. Will they play cheap sets at the Derby with other top players or are they just holding out for the big feed fest. I'm not passing judgement on anyone. I'm just curious if they would play cheap sets or cheap per game rotational games with other top players at the DCC.

Thanks,
JoeyA

I did with Luat and Busta when they were in CO about 8 yrs ago, they just want to keep swinging the bat and stay in stroke.

I haven't been able to watch much because of my other duties, but I do know that Shane lost some serious cheese playing Scooter, giving him the Break and the Six Out last night. Shane has been in action every night! He had beaten Scooter earlier at that same game. Dippy played Cliff three sets getting 16-4 last night also, with Cliff winning the first two, and losing the final one. The Fatboy starts tonight so I'll be busy with that for the next few days.
