Im sure he will do a great job wherever it goes. I stated that the reason the tournament was moving was because the Executive would not be able to house the tournament after the remodel. Who knows it may be even bigger.

Nine Ball said:I don't know.. I just see so much that can go wrong here in having it at a casino.

I see your point but the bottom line is that the Executive West as we knew it is gone. The only options were move or cancel. Greg looked all over the place for a venue and even came here for suggestions. My whole point is that whatever he puts on will be better than the event dieing. I was publicly against having it in a casino but I understand the reasons why it going to be at one and I am going to support Greg and the event until something convinces me otherwise.Nine Ball said:I think we can still see the obvious things that will not be good without hearing all the details. I know for myself the cost to attend was already high and now it appears it will be even higher at the casino.

I'm trying to be optimistic, but I feel that it is impossible for things to be the same. There was nothing like walking down those hallways at the Executive West, pouncing back and forth from the front action room, to the tournament room, up the stairs, and as the venue progressed, eventually across the street and then back through the whole process about 50 times a day. The lovely staff there that was appreciative of the big tips often left while enjoying the breakfast buffet, knowing they usually threw in a few special requests (if you had the right waitress). There was something about packing that hotel with all of us that made me feel great. Even though everybody was trying to gamble with each other, there was a sense of commrodity and pride amongst all. I feel that with the overwhelming casino style atmosphere, compts, and an abundance of law enforcement, the DCC is going to be a sweet memory. Again, I'm being completely optimistic about the event and hope I'm completely wrong. I just feel like if I plan on things being not as good, then I won't be disappointed.

Look at the APA BCA and VNEA national tournaments in Vegas, they are huge. Do you think if they had those events at the polk county fairgrounds the attendence would be as high? HELL NO.
The way I look at it is we are going get an attendence boost. Maybe its the shot in the arm that pool needs
As far as the room rates, I am sure Greg is negotiating that right now. I garuntee we wont be paying full price for rooms.
I wish we would all hold judgement until after the event when we can make an honest assesment and not what we think it might be like
