I just got back from the Horseshoe. They were setting up the tables and I got a look at all of the rooms. The main area is awesome, you can have the perfect view of 9 tables simultaneously from overhead. They are being setup with the small Diamond lights. This area has 2 rows of opera seating overhead in a second story area so that will be great.
The TV table area setup was ongoing when I was there so no table but they have staging up for the stadium style seating.
There are outlying tables on the main floor that are not going to be in the clear line of site like the center 9 tables.
The table count is 56 9 footers and one 7 footer in the TAR action room. The TAR room has the most elbow room so plenty of area for some serious woofing.
The AZ room has two tables and is a little smaller than the room last year, I do not know how much room there will be for chairs but I believe it will be fine.
The straight pool room had 2 tables but they were not yet positioned. The room has a curved wall so they might have to put one table in on an angle. This room is smaller as well.
There is another long gallery room which might of had 7 big tables. I do not know if I saw all 56 big tables so I might have missed a room or so.
The area set up for the vendors is on the same level as the casino buffet giving perhaps more room than we had in the hall at the Executive West, I do not think there will be side rooms set up for vendors it appeared to all be one level in a very nice galleria styled public area, also there is a very nice rotating pool table displaying all of the Diamonds products.
As for eating I had the buffet it was 31 bucks to eat for two people since I do not have players card, I guess it gets cheaper depending on your level of play at the casino. The food at the buffet was really good. There was smaller snack place open the big steak house was closed due to the time of day, mid afternoon on a Tuesday.
I saw Big Nasty when he was checking in and JCIN was going to be there a couple of hours later. TAR should be up and running.
I believe the tourney draw will be streamed live on the internet courtesy of AZ Billiards and Diamond for remote watchers. I heard that from someone who was setting up the tables and I have no details but I think that will be great. I really wish they would post match results including final scores per match but that might be asking for too much.
There is some distance from hotel to the tourney area but they did have an airport style courtesy cart going back and forth. The place had a nice looking gym and they do have a pool, 8 AM to 10 PM on the pool.
I think it is going to be great. The look of the new setup is excellent. I am pretty excited.
