Derby City Straight Pool Challenge 2012

Update

Did Schmidt get a big one Monday? 247 someone said?

Schmidt got a 249 Saturday, before the event started. Pissed it away, as Marop was telling him. He has also had 4 over 100. Pretty darn consistent.

Day Three saw Darren Appleton move ahead of John Schmidt for overall high run, 140/130 late last night. 36 Entries so far, up from 28 total last year with one day to go.

Dailies saw Ralf Souquet take first with 108, Dennis Orcollo take second with 73 and Mats Schjetne take third with a 64.

Overall top eight for now are

Darren 140, John Schmidt 130, Niels 113, Ralf 108, Huidji See 105, Orcollo 102, Warren Kiamco 97, Mats Schjetne 64.

Sounds like some pretty good scores. I see some notable names missing from the list -- maybe they'll catch up tonight. Did you set a time cut-off for final start?

Thanks Dennis. This sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully John will put it in high gear and win this thing.

Mats Schjetne tried his luck again, ran 102 but needed 103 to qualify for top 8.

First year all 8 qualifiers ran 100 or more? Seems like there were many great runs this year

We cut off at 2 a.m. and that was when Alex posted his high run of 141. John was on the other table doing a 144.

Since we had 3 tables at times we were able to service more and since we allowed multiple buy ins there was a bit of a feeding frenzy. 46 entries this year.

Tried to answer this in detail yesterday but the computer froze. Got to go now and get ready for the matches this morning. Later, D

I think that 100 has always been good enough. Tough luck for Mats.

The semifinals were completed today.

Souquet beat Appleton and Pagulayan beat Schmidt.

Hence, on Saturday night it will be Souquet vs Pagulayan in the finals.

Figures to be a good one.

Anyone know what time the final will be streamed?

I heard it would be at 11 PM Saturday but really there is no schedule for it, as it will likely have to wait unti the nine ball event has finished. The 14.1 challenge finalists, Souquet and Pagualyan, have both won their first six matches in the nine ball event, so each must be reckoned very capable of playing nine ball late into Saturday night.

Thanks a bunch for the info. That's Central time, right?

A very valid question, since Indiana has, like, 4 different time zones, right? :p

(J/K with the chide about Indiana's multiple timezones, but it'd be helpful to know which timezone the quoted times are for.)

Will this match be streamed?

Don't know for sure but there is a good chance it will be streamed on insidepoolmag.

Well, there's that, but also sometimes a person will give the time in the time zone they are in rather than the local time at the venue or specify EST etc.. I've been guilty of that, doh!:embarrassed2:

Both Alex and Ralf are in the 9 Ball event so we may be in for the Long Haul waiting for it to come on.

Dennis came over to the inside pool booth this morning before he left DCC and told Alvin that they can have the finals of the 14.1 Challenge, so thats good news for all of us free-streamers.

So make yourself comfy we may be here for a while !

Steve, as far as you know right now though, it will be sometime later tonight? If it is, at least I'm on the West Coast.

I'm home now. The tournament desk said the finals could not be played until Ralf and Alex were done with 9 ball. They both are undefeated. It could be very very late. If accu-stats was not available to stream, Inside Pool will do it, however, they may just split the baby and not play it.

Alvin and JR would know what the deal is. Bill was going to talk to Alex and Ralf. I did not want to sit around and wait all day just in case they decided to play it.
