GREAT! About doggone time, I say! Now everyone can read the article and digest its contents. Personally, I thought it was a FANTASTIC read.

That picture of Kevin Trudeau on the cover page of your article sure is funny! :D

Great job J.D. This is a story that needed to be told to those outside the pool world.

Thanks JAM. Its working at 1:20pm. And thank you J.D. - it will be an interesting read I am sure.

Thanks for the kind words in the other thread! :)

I thought J.D. Dolan's article was very objective and really tells the IPT story.

I enjoyed reading about Rodney Morris' thoughts as well as the brief bio provided in the article about his rise to pool stardom!

Dolan I went 12 miles and paid money a few days ago on your advice to buy something that is being away for free. I would have liked to see more people both pro and con in the story then just Mr. Morris. Trudeau must have said more than what you wrote. I do not think both sides of the story came out. From your writings here I am not sure you went into this with an open mind.

Bozo, and I use that term very seriously:D , the facts speak for themselves. I didn't take notice of any editorializing or the insertion of any personal opinions by the author.

Apparently, you're very upset with the reality and ending of this unfortunate story. Still, wishing, insinuating, or pretending does not change the truth.

Thanks for the link and the great article J. D. It was a shame it had to be cut down, but it is still only about the second Pool-related article in a main-stream US magazine on Pool I can think of in the last few years. A sad indictment of a sport that, as you pointed out, used to make front page headlines.

I also thought it was not quite right to state that "The top 150 players, including Morris, had earned their spots on the tour". Some mention of the bizarre and often prejudicial process by which those initial 150 places were filled would have been beneficial. However I did especially like the use of the phrase "In the midst of a gold rush, who sweats the price of a shovel and a pick?"

Kudos on actually getting some kind of window into the murky world of the Ho deal, although as ever there are far more questions remaining over that than answers.

Were you being deliberately ironic when you quote Rodney Morris as having "no problem with Trudeau or his past troubles" in light of Mr. Morris' own past troubles?

I noticed KT claims that he "invested $10 million and lost $2 million" Does this mean he is claiming that the IPT actually generated $8 million in revenue? If so how? Does that include the missing millions from Reno?

Or does it mean he "Invested" $10 and "Lost" a further $2 for a total of $12 million? But then again this is "KT Math" so anything is possible as long as you take enough Coral Calcium.

And how the heck did Rodney Morris manage to spend $17 large on "IPT-licensed products"?

GOOD JOB J.D.! You brought an important story out in public, where anyone and everyone can read about the shenanigans of Kevin Trudeau. It is more than just a "pool story". It is a story about great expectations and shattered dreams, something that almost anyone can relate to. And it is a cautionary tale as well. Be sure to look a "gift horse" in the mouth.

Unfortunately, it is a story that has no happy ending, because to Trudeau it is only another chapter in his sordid life of flim flammery and chicanery. It is obvious he does not take seriously any consequences for his actions. Unless charges are brought against him this time, he will continue on the same path as P.T. Barnum, who said "There is a sucker born every minute".

This seems to be the only credo Trudeau lives by.

Does whining make it all better??

I bought the book! Can I give my thoughts without my name being insulted?

I know what you mean about the word "earned." It was difficult to detail the IPT's complicated history (i.e., the qualifiers were originally $1000 and later raised to $2000, and some players basically just applied by mail and got in for $1) and still keep within the 2000 words I was contracted to write.

The Ho deal surprised me. I thought it might be pure invention on Trudeau's part, but he had indeed worked out a deal with Peter Kjaer and was close to finalizing it. But Trudeau had said all along that he would finance the tour (and implied that he had great personal wealth); he didn't mention that without this "merger" the IPT would fall apart. In fact, he said repeatedly that the IPT was in the black. But the most surprising thing that I discovered when researhing this piece is that Trudeau was willing to partner up with a board member of a phramaceutical company. How's that for hypocrisy?

Morris wasn't being ironic when he said he had no troubles with Trudeau's past. Morris is very open about his own history, and he felt that Trudeau was being open about his history and that it made him more human.

Who knows how to figure Trudeau's math? He won't open up his books, and as far as I can tell he exaggerates nearly everything.

Morris spent thousands on IPT-licensed equipment by buying Diamond tables for the pool room he co-owns in Coral Gables, Florida. (These supplemented the Gold Crowns already in place.)

Rodney is House Pro at Capone's in Springhill, Fl. If he co-owns one good for him but that is news to me.

JD, nice article, worth the read.

Thanks for the effort.

As far as the HO deal is concerned, it is my understanding that Stanley Ho had no personal knowledge of either KT or the IPT.

When the Chaicago Lawyers asked him on a golf course, he replied by saying he didnt know what an IPT was.

If I called you on the phone, and left a message for you about the possibility of you covering a story about blind, albino cattle, and you never call me back, could/should I go around saying that Details magazine and I are in negotiations to expose a new phenomenon in the beef industry?

I suspect, but could be wrong, that kt may have made inquiries to the Ho camp, but it never reached a level where it could reasonably be considered a "negoatiation".
