Not so sure about that. You have some players like Bartrum and MIke D who are basically begging to give Jay the money right now but they are not "on the list" and need to wait for a spot to open.
Guys like Appleton, Mika, Lee Van, you think those guys wont get in? I doubt they would pass on it as they have a chance to win the whole thing and would probably not struggle to get backed into it if they needed.
Then if you really want to see the Asian contingent get into these things, if you really want to see Ko, Chang, and Wu compete then you need to give them the opportunity. It cannot be a last minute invite to guys like that, they need to plan for the event and they need to know well in advance that it is an option.
I don't think 32 would be that hard TBH. I think they could fill the event with 32 people if they market it to the players right and make it an international flavoured event. With enough players and enough money in it there is a chance of getting points added to the event for the world rankings and then all of the sudden the event becomes far more popular and players from across the sea have a far stronger case to travel to play in it.
