Just when you think you have seen them all.
This has a good story line and cool equipment. Laura was hot and there were a few trick shots. The hustler was an actor named Phil Leeds. Both Rob and Phil looked like they could play a little:cool:.

Thanks for posting this. I grew up watching Dick and Mary and forgotten
what a great show this was. TV has come along way but this is real comedy at its best.

Mary. What a Hottie. Dick was a lucky guy.

Your welcome. At 1:40 of the the 2nd video was a cool chalking scene and right after that Dick does a neat trick with the cue on his arm.
 
That was a good show. It was funny seeing Laura have to get up to change the tv channel.

I'm convinced that if they had remote controls back in 1970, I would never have been born.

I think I spent the formative years of my life changing the tv channel for my parents

I used to spin the dial the long way/wrong way going from channel 2 to say...channel 7, going past the 'unknown' zone of UHF channel selections on the knob.

This act of childhood rebellion got my Dad off the couch to wack me up the backside of the head-not enough to put me out of commission-since after all, I was the remote and had more channel changing to do while he ate dinner on the TV tray in the den.

Pretty sure I was responsible for having to replace the 'tuner/knob contacts mechanism' a couple of times.

And then there were the trips to the grocery store(I think) to test a paper bag full of vacuum tubes from the TV, trying to buy the right one to coax the old TV back to life, and avoid having to call the TV repairman.(remember the white death dot in the middle of the screen?, when the picture would go dark and any detail displayed on the screen would shrink and get sucked into that black hole/white dot? )

Some of us remember this kind of stuff. Some are saying....wtf is he talking about? Today we don't repair electronics-we toss em, and buy another at a price lower than we paid for the last go round.

Those were good days. Good television programming. Pre-child protective services-when every Mom on the block had 'whip his ass and send him home for another' privileges.

And yeah-Mary Tyler Moore was hot in a buttoned up way. Then there was, 'I Dream of Jeanie' type hot....mmmh..still is dream material.

Yep. Watching Frank put on baby powder and Kramer chalk his cue had me rolling. There is even a couple of quotes from the Hustler:cool:

Thanx for posting that. We got our first tv in 1954 for my 7th birthday. The next one was after I went away for college, 1966.:thumbup:

anybody know of a fuctional tv that old today:grin:
 
And TV went off the air at night, nothing but test patterns.

Even when remote controls first came in, you could only go up and down the dial. And it still controlled the channel knob. You'd hit the button and the dial would go "ka-chunk, ka-chunk" as it rotated as if by invisible fingers.

Dick looks great at 86. I think thats just Super Cala Fraja Listic and I'll throw in an Expi ala docious to boot.
He made an extra good chimney sweep as well.
