Dinner with Danny Di

Danny DiLiberto is up in Chicago giving lessons and staying with poolbug/memorabilia collector, Mike Sletton. Danny cooked dinner for a few of us up at Mike's place. Outstanding! We started with an antipasto of imported cold cuts and cheeses topped with Chianti. Then we went to work on Rotini with hot italian sausage tomato sauce, a specialty of Danny's. Delicious. More wine, and then a round of Danny stories. With the Bears and the White Sox winning earlier, the day became memorable. It was great being able to spend some time with one of pool's national treasures, and he can cook too!

What a great auction that would be, winner gets to spend a day with the two of you, listening to great old pool stories, followed with a game of pool and a plate of pasta. Yum yum

Please let us know if Danny decides to stop in Detroit, I would like a couple of hours of 1pocket lessons.

I was supposed to attend that dinner too, but couldn't. Danny is still the best pool teacher I've ever seen. GF

Thanks Danny Diliberto

I had the pleasure of spending 2 hours with Danny on Sunday before you guys had Dinner. $100 for 2 hours is a great price that he is charging. Like George Fels said, he is a great teacher. I encourage anyone that has the opportunity to meet this man to do so. I have been stuck at a "B" player status for a long time. I believe this lesson may be what I needed to get to the next level.

My meeting Danny would not have happened with out AZ billiards. "dmgwalsh" (Dennis)posted about lessons with Danny. A big thanks goes out to Dennis and anyone else involved in bringing Danny out to the Chicago area. Dennis even recorded the lesson I had with Danny and is sending a DVD to me. Dennis wanted nothing for his efforts!?!?!???

Freddy,
I too, very much enjoyed dinner with Danny and the rest of you guys! Danny does know how to make a great sauce. And Mike was a gracious host to all of us.

When I get a chance I will post the photo of Danny over the stove and sturring the pot (no pun intended). I am sure that some of you would get a kick out of the photo.

Best Regards,
Hal

SPENDING TIME WITH YOU GUYS AND SOME LESSONS WOULD MAKE THIS A TRUE FANTASY CAMP. WHY NOT SET SOMETHING UP LIKE THIS AT DCC FOR A GREAT DAY, SOME LESSONS, AND SOME $$ FOR DD AND DABEARD?

Good idea

I aint sure, Joey. Danny and Mike Sletton did the shopping. But they must have gone to a good spot because the sausage was outstanding (and very hot), and they had imported DeCecco macaroni (the best), imported cheese and salami and smoked imported prociutto. One knock, the bread was ordinary. My bread must either come from my own oven or the D'Amato bakery on Grand Ave. Next door to the D'Amato bakery is the Bari Grocery store where they make their own sausage, and it is excellent.

Cooking for us

Danny Diliberto cooked for us the other night and no one went home hungry.

Our gracious host Mike Sletton is in the photo directly behind Master Chef Danny, while all of us antispated a fantastic feast to come. Delish ....

I must say that Danny is a man of many talents, however his memory of pool players, boxers, people and sport events is far beyond any words that I could ever write.

Best Regards,
Hal

Sounds like a great feast.

I couldn't make it because my wife would not have understood.

I had put together and filmed the Latimer/Hunter match that Thursday.

For Friday I arranged for 4 hours worth of lessons for Danny at the Illinois Billiard Club followed by dinner with Danny and a few others at Capri in Palos Heights. Mussels, calamari, vino, etc.
Saturday lessons from noon to five and Sunday lessons from 11-6. Had a few hours myself and filmed the rest.

From all I heard everyone enjoyed their lessons.

Next time you should ...

I brought this up with Danny and then called Grady for a possible straight-pool, one pocket and bank pool fantasy camp at DCC. They are both open to it. Details to be worked out. First need to know the logistics at the new location. Also need to find out if accu-stats will be there. We would like to put it on a DVD. Diana Hoppe could also take souvenir photos. Working on it.
