I took one of my cues back in for a simple refinish. There were gouges and scratches down to the wood.
Put it in my spinner and sanded it down to the wood and put a few coats of sealer on it and let it spin. I came back in an hour and saw that the threaded mandril backed off about 1/2 inch while it was spinning the SS pin was flexing and broke in half.
So to replace the pin, I heated the 3/8 in of pin that was sticking out with a propane torch.
Well the end of the cue started on fire and I had to squirt some water on it to put out the flames.
But .... I got the pin out.... success.
So..... replaced the joint cap and bored and plugged the end of the butt. Drilled and tapped the butt and installed a new pin.
re sanded and it has the finish on it now........ looks brand new................
Changed out the threaded mandril to a slip fit so that can't happen again..........
let that be a lesson to me...................
LOL
