I feel so dumb for asking this.. I just got a new McDermott cue, and its my first cue. I've always played with house cues, so i never seen a tip without chalk on it..
Are new tips supposed to look like this? It almost looks like the tip was ripped off.. Then again i've never seen a new tip before

If you don't know, you should always ask. I sold a cue with joint protectors at a Gun and Knife show to a guy who just loved the look of the cue. He came back to the booth about half an hour later and asked me "how the hell do you put it together?" He didn't realize it had joint protectors, and told me he thought at first it was magnetic!
So which cue did you get?
I'm in the process of getting my first cue also but with so many choices I don't know which one to pick.

Nothing fancy, but i liked the contrast of maple on rosewood.

Nice looking cue...
That is in the same price range that I'm looking to spend.

That happens more often than you would think.
do yourself a service and spend the 350 on a gently used D series McDermott...you'll be happy
