I wasn't sure where to post this, here or NPR... Anyway here's my story.
A couple of weeks ago I was at the enlisted club and a young man was playing pool. We were getting ready to start their little tournament. I watched him for a little while and seemed to be a good up and comer. He looked serious about the game and appeared to be well on his way to learning. We got to talking and he seemed to be a very sincere and religious young man. He was playing with a cheap "Wal-mart" cue and I offered to let him try my Bender and my RAT cue. He fell in love with the RAT cue and I told him to keep it. He was in shock! We played in the tourney and he was calling the cue "his blessing". I just told him that when he's my age and sees a young man playing pool to pay it forward and he agreed.
When Sarah Rosey came on here asking for donations to go to Taiwan to play in a tourney, I decided she was a true one of a kind and would represent us well, so I sent her what I could.
Well, I had sold/traded/gave away all of my cues and was starting from scratch. The only cue I had left was an awesome Bender I got in trade. So I posted to do some trading for some of the guns I had in my collection. When I posted, my thoughts were that out of what I have listed I would like to try and either a Mottey (never owned but always wanted), a Josswest (same thing), or a Blackcreek (sold one and regret it). I had a couple others in mind, but these were at the top of my list. I never thought I would get any offers on my proposal, but they started coming in pretty steadily. Low and behold, I get a trade offer for a Mottey and we work a deal. Next I get an offer for a Josswest and we work a deal. The next thing I know Travis Niklich is CALLING ME!!! We work a deal for TWO of his cues. I'm still in shock and disbelief that I got EXACTLY what I wanted.
Do I believe karma played a role in this, you're damn right I do!
Anyway, that's a story I felt like telling... Have a great weekend!!
