I have a 1927 Balke & Callender Brunswick 9 foot table. Play on it everyday. Back in 1927, they made the pockets bigger to encourage making balls and being more recreational oriented. I had Mark Gregory make new rails to tighten up the pockets to the current standards. Also replaced cushions with Brunswick SuperSpeed cushions. Table has the awesome vintage look with the large mission legs but with the new rail dimensions. Best of both worlds. Simonis Electric Blue cloth.

No :(

When I was in high school (a long time ago), I saved some money and split the cost of a new Gandy Atlantan 4x8 with my parents. Once I went to college though, my folks disassembled it, and it remains in storage to this day. I've wanted to get it set back up for the longest time, but I've moved around from apartment to apartment all of my life.

Well, a few years ago I purchased a small home. Unfortunately, I measured the basement and even the main room upstairs, but there's not enough room to play comfortably here, either...I'm still not sure what the heck I was thinking when I bought this house.

Someday, someday...

Still, it seems that you need a pretty large space even for a 4x8. I'd rather not bother setting it up if there wasn't plenty of space all around it.

I have a Gandy Big G, 9' in the family room off from the kitchen. It calls my name while I take my lunch break each day. After lunch I usually answer.....if only for a little while.

I moved into a new (bigger) house in early June. We bought the table 2 weeks later and it was delivered on June 30th. Since then, I've been able to play just about everyday. Once my wife puts the baby to sleep, I head to the basement for an hour or so.

The table is an 8' Olhausen Monterey with Tournament Blue 860 on it. I was advised not to get the table shimmed initially. A buddy told me his Olhausen played plenty tough with the standard pockets. I'm glad I listened.

The room looks a little better now. We were still unpacking when this photo was taken.

Here's mine... a 9-foot Diamond Pro Am with pro cut pockets. On average, I play for a couple of hours every other day or so. I love it. And having it in my garage allows me to smoke cigars and play pool at the same time. And what's not pictured here even with the 9-footer in the garage, I have enough room for my Harleys and my trio beer fridge. So, who wants to hit some balls, smoke cigars and drink some beers?.... anybody? :groucho:

I was just wondering how many of you have a pool table in your house. If you do, what maker? - what size and where is it? Do you play on it a lot?

We have a 8 Foot Oak Gandy in the basement. I love my Gandy table because it is tight and true. Too bad they don't make them anymore!
We would love to have a 9 foot table but supporting walls are in the way. Also I wish our table was on the main level so we would play more. Our last house - our table was Up-stairs (That was a pain too).

My Game: 9 Ball
I have a 9ft. Diamond Pro. It is in what used to be a carport. It was converted to a rec room many years ago. It gets played quite often. I have had most of Tucsons best players over to hit balls. No complaints so far. The next thing to get is Diamonds 2ft wide light, my light is not that great.

Here's a pic of my Gold Crown I. This pic was taken at my old house. As soon as I finish the basement at my new house, it will be moved there.

9 Foot Brunswick Monticello III...

...from late 70's, I believe. $400 and came with 3 old cues. Had to have it moved twice, from original owner's house to garage of rented house and then to newly purchased home. That cost a lot more than the table did, LOL. Fred Tyers of Fort Meyers did a great job. I blew the location, though. The angled wall gets in the way. Next recover, I move the light and the table diagonally about 18 inches to clear every wall.

The table and room look great and as long as you only blew the location everything is fine :)
