If you use a vacuum how often do you do it and what brand of vacuum do you use?

Yup! dirt devil or a wet/dry vac. Just don't use a vaccum with a rotating brush. What really works great is take a hot damp rag and wipe it down, you'll be amazed at all the chalk you clean off. Depending on how often you play maybe every couple weeks.

The Shark.....

i just use the upholstry attachment and brush the table like i normally would from head to foot.

i probably do this once or twice a month and the cloth stays very very clean.

I brush the table like normal after each time playing.

I also whipe the table with a damp microfiber cloth after vacuuming.

good results for me....my hands are never dirty from the table

I don't use a vacumm that is my wife's job.

On a more serious note I do use a vacumm on my table but usually only about once or twice a year as it doesn't get all that dirty.

I vacuum my table about every two weeks, depending on amount of play/practice. I use my rigid shop vac with the wide squegee attachment, takes about 2 minutes.

On Sunday, watching the strwam from Levittown, just before the final match, Mike Janis, I believe, came out and mega spray foamed the entire table top (cloth & rails) then used what looked like a 2 foot wide cloth squeegee and mopped it all up.

He even came over for a close up of the spray can but the shot was too fuzzy to read. They did mention the name but I don't recall what it was.

Anyone remember what that product was?

Best,

There are two brands. "Quick Clean" and "Chalk Off". The microfiber squeegee will work with either one or you can use a regular microfiber cleaning cloth.

An alternative that works as well, and costs a hell of a lot less, is Blue Coral Dri-Clean Plus Upholstery cleaner. You can pick up a 22 oz can at your local auto supply store for about $5.

It was Quick-Clean ( http://www.quick-clean.com/ ) The former Viking Tour which is now the Ozone Billiards tour is sponsored by it.

I use the Simonis X-1 daily to remove the chalk.

I vac, using a shop vac with an upholstery brush, about once every two weeks.

I don't cover the table as I'm, once again, using it daily so using the vac is necessary to get the usual dirt/dust out of the fibers. .

A year ago someone at our club bought this huge vacuum cleaner that looks like it could suck the cloth off the table. Not quite, but I have a feeling that the brushes are damaging the cloth and that it is losing its grip over time.
Do you absolutely need a vac? How good are pool table cleaners like "chalk off"?

I use the Quick Clean and vacuum monthly. It works well, I picked up a can at the SBE and two years ago.

I would not recommend Blue Coral! I tried it on some Championship Tour edition a few years ago and it relaxed the cloth so much there was a big roll of loose cloth. Once it dried it tightened back up.

The "Quick Clean" and "Chalk Off" work well.

1 hp Shop-Vac hang-up Mini. Just did my table yesterday. I used a small brush attachment and then did the whole thing again with the upholstery attachment.
I should do it more often but I usually do it when it gets to the point that I can't stand it any longer:p
Polished my Super Pro Aramith balls, also.

That's something different. Does it work well? Anyone? I'm going to try it and will post results. Thanks for the info.

note that according to Quick Clean inventor Chalk Off is not the same and does not work as good as Quick Clean, if it does it's job at all. Search the forums for both for the entire story.
