That I have used the same Dan Janes Joss since 1986, everyone on here seems to try many different cues but I have never found anything I like better.

I've tried many different cues, cheap and expensive but never came across anything I like better so I just keep hitting with the Joss.

I have owned many different cues mostly in the two to five hundred range over the years but I mainly picked them up in pawn shops while traveling and flipped them for a little profit or gave them to friends in need.

I've had the same cue since 1984. Every couple of years, I change shafts. After 24 years, it's basically an extension of my arm, my mind, and my heart. There is no crime in finding the perfect cue. You have saved yourself a lot of headaches by not having to search for something else.
JMO.
 
not strange at all...if it isnt broke, dont fix it. but you never know when you may pick one up that you just may like better.
 
If you've got a cue that feels good to you, stick with it! That's about the bottom line in personal cues. :smile:
 
Just like Love. Some find their lifetime love early on, others search forever. After years and years, cues and cues, I finally seem to have found mine.

I'm guilty of going through cues but I see nothing wrong with you sticking with one cue for so long. I think I'm pretty much done now though. I'm totally comfortable with my James White and SouthWest. I have another couple of cues that I leave at other pool rooms so if I go there from work and don't have my cue with me I've got something I'm comfortable with.

No reason to feel bad about keeping the same cue for all these years though, man. Like someone else said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

It's not the using the same cue that makes you strange.

Its that dress and high heels with un-shaved legs that makes you strange.....;) :D :D :D :D


Just kidding with you...You kind of opend the barn door for that one...

Nothing wrong with that, after going through a couple of McDs in the 80s, I picked up a Joss Limited in early 1990 and used is since. Even use the original shaft (cleaned up by Mike Webb to like new a few months ago).
 
Stikapos, truer words were never spoken. I sold my best cue for a nice sum & left my best girl for another, but not as good.

Someimes being satisfied is a sign of true happiness... that part got past me somehow.

I bought a simple joss on ebay, its a merry widow style, about 10 years ago. i used it at home for practice, so i would not have to use my joss west all the time. turns out its a great cue. its still in my cue rack now for guests to use. chuck starkey
 
That's the strangest thing I have ever heard. Just plain weird. One cue? I can't get over what an oddball situation this is.

I'm still pondering the oddness.

Wow, strange isn't the word.
 
I still have, and play with my McDermott C-21 that I've had since January 1980:D :D and it's still in mint condition:D

Actually, IMHO from what I've read over the last few years Dan makes a helluva cue :thumbup:

Like most things in life -- with age -- most things get better :smile: -- save your back or other things which may just seem to wear out ;)

If you can find a cue which feels good in your hand and you play with it all the time....to me that's the magic formula ;) consistency is the name of the game!

Currently, I'm still in college checking out all the girls :eek:

Hoping to find that special feeling :D
 
It's a great thing for you. People spend years & thousands of dollars trying new cues & never get "the one". Other people, like me, build the dang things & can still never be happy with one cue for very long before wanting another. Not only do I build my own but also try cues built by other builders. I have had some gems from other builders, built a handful of great ones, but never had one that would be the end all of my cue trying. So be happy that you can be satisfied with the one you have. I'm sure you have built much of your game on that cue.

Not even close to strange! I still play regularly with my old R series Schon that I've had since about 1984 and I have yet to find a cue that I play better with than that old Schon. It still looks new too. Like Blackjack said, play with a cue long enough and it becomes an extension of yourself. Hard to replace a cue like that!
 
I just started a thread asking about Joss cues. I just played with one for the first time and i really do think its the best cue ive ever played with.

I have been playing with a Lucasi and after reading this thread and the responses to the one i started, i have decided to make the change.
