Most definitely, they have helped my game. They are prescription though. I absolutely disliked looking over/through the frames of standard glasses while down on the shot.

I have been wearing pool glasses now for 7 years or so. My local doctor gave me a prescription focused for 8ft. I play both 7ft and 9ft.
I got the biggest lens (almost covers the eyebrow) I could and nice pair of lightweight frames. No bifocals as this will distort. Adding Anti-Glare is a must.
Last year my AG wore off on one lens and all I could find locally was as expensive as a whole set of glasses 180.00 I loved my frames so I went online and got a new set of lenses for 75.00 with AG. I love the AG. It clears up those thin cuts for me.

Progressive Lenses
I am thinking about buying those glasses that Grady Mathews uses from Gordon Harrison Dispensing Optics.
They say, single vision. I understand that they can make progressive lenses.
I would like to buy progressive lenses, so I can use them for long and short distances.

I have the snooker glasses, but just went recently and got contacts. Like them so much better for shooting pool. I don't need a very strong lens, and my eye doctor is a pool player, so he knew exactly what I needed. I have had them for about 3 weeks and it is getting easier putting them in and taking them out. Love them.
I found them horrible and returned mine. Progressive lenses are only truely focused at one spot in the lense, and all else is fuzzy. That means your periferal vision is always fuzzy, and you have to move your head to look at everything straight on. Make sure you can return them if you don't like them... I opted for bi-focals positioned extra low.

For me, it took a bit of adjusting. I can see the end of the table but for close shots, they get fuzzy. I just put them up on top of my head.
Certain lighting conditions and I use them, if everything is bright, I leave them in the case.
Worth the money in the long run.
BTW. This guy is great to deal with. If the lenses need adjusting in any way, he will accept them back, and change lenses free of charge.

Not even a close call. I made mine myself and had my prescription put in and it was almost shocking. I haven't seen the balls this good in 20 years it is like I don't even ware glasses anymore.
I've never wore glasses playing pool as I get really low and end up seeing over the rim of my glasses (pool-playing glasses would correct this). But I have wore contacts for a year and that year I have to say my game greatly improved. Some of the detail I saw on the table and the sharpness of the balls really amazed me. I think in pool, where centimeters can make a difference between winning or losing, vision is essential.
I agree 100% with Mr Hoope on this. A Progressive lense is cut so only the center portion of the lense is actually in focus. I'd guess from 1/4 to 1/3 of the width of the lense is cut for your vision...the rest might not even exist. My normal glasses are progressive and if you aren't looking directly at your object, it'll be fuzzy. You have to hold your head perfectly to stay in focus, so now you're not only looking up and down for the sweet spot, you're looking from side to side. Sucks.
I have a pair of the Dycot Shooting glasses with a single lense prescription adjusted to 3'-10'. That range works well on any table. Just have trouble seeing if balls are frozen together or to the rail...not a big problem though. Next time I get the prescrition changed, I'm going to add the reading bifocal lense cut in the base of the lense so I can read the score sheet and see those frozen balls.
If you need to wear glasses to see, I highly suggest these or any other glasses made for shooting (trap/skeet or pool). You'll notice the difference right away.

Stay away from prograssives, get a distance lens and you'll be fine. I got the light blue lens, but there are 7 colors to choose from, depending on the lighting in the pool hall you play in.

I have used there glasses for over 8 years and have NEVER had an issue with Decot! Originally I bought the frames with the adjustable bridge, I did not like them for personal reasons. Had them for a month and Decot took them back in exchange N/C.. No problem. I had a bad prescription with one lens once and they took that back as a doctors error and sent me the corrected lens at no charge. They have been honest, pleasant and fair with me consistently for the entire time I have dealt with them. Combine that with being in business over 50 years or so and I guess they must be doing something right! They are one of the premier shooting glasses available and have been for many years, not because they make junk... If they made junk they would have gone out of business a long, long time ago... JMO!

I don't know if they help you play better, they are suppose to help you see better.

I don't wear them for shooting pool because the frames are so small, but these are the BEST glasses I've ever had. EXPENSIVE but well worth the price if you wear bifocals and hate them.

If you can wear small frame glasses and use them to shoot pool, then these may be just the thing for you. They adjust to ANY focal length and you can select a "depth of field" just like a camera and use them for a set range...like 3 to 10 feet, etc.

I have a friend who plays in what look like YELLOW Shooting Glasses, with his prescription in them, he swear by them.
