Don Montalvo a.k.a PoolMouse purposely sharks me in tournament

First off...I can't believe you wrote his name on this thread....

secondly, the pool room is a circus, between customers, sharkers and just the overall environment, you have to learn to ignore it and play.

I was being sharked once in a state tournament by someone I wasn't playing. I actually had to stop playing, go out to the parking lot to get my ID to show the other team who I was, because this guy was being so belligerent. The thing is, when I finally got ready to shoot I had to kick at my ball. Somehow I managed to make the shot and got shape on the eight and made that too. But you're right I think by going outside to get my ID it really cooled me down (literally).

Ace, you're acting like you're the first person that's ever been sharked

Way to go Tony! I hope you used your preshot routine, like we worked on, to elevate this process. That's what really allows you to strongly focus on the task at hand...pocketing that ball...and then the next one, and the next, etc. Good job!

I came back out and I was so focused that he didnt stand a chance ..i ran some balls and shot a killer safety..he shot one back but i then pulled an Efren on him and made a kick, cut safety..it was a thing of beauty..he fouled and i ran out..that was the best win i have ever had..just because I beat someone who tried to cheat to win..there is no better win than that. I agree u should have gotten the TD, but you also should have used that anger you felt for him sharking you and chanelled it thru you cue and won that match.;)

Many years ago, I got sharked in the finals in the same manner by a bystander, but it was by a drunken girl that knew my opponent. I took second place because of my loss in that match, but after the smoke cleared, I stuck around for a while and ended-up bagging that drunk girl! Haha!

I hope you rubbed that one in with some fist pumping and cheering!

Paper, plastic or RUBBER?:)

on topic: I'd as the shark(er) to knock it off once. If that doesn't work and I have to tell him the outcome hasn't always been predictable.:o

Sharking

I am playing at Masters Billiards in Queens in the weekly open tournament. During a match, and Don Montalvo whose screen name on AZ is poolmouse, decides to come over sit down next to my table and talk smack about my game and tries to shark me during my match. I have earphones on so I am blocking out most of what he is doing, but he is moving around, fidgeting, making gestures, and cheering loudly for my opponent while I am shooting. He gets me, I?m shooting the 8 ball on the hill, and I miss the shot. My opponent runs out, and breaks and runs the next rack to win the set. This guy was also waiting to play the winner of the match and he wanted me to lose because he obviously wanted to play the weaker opponent.

I have a question? What am I supposed to do with people like this? I could follow the lead of other players who would just get into a fight right away.

During my match I was trying to ignore it and practice getting mentally tougher, but obviously I failed and lost the set. Why are people like this? Even if I didn?t like someone I would not purposely shark them. I have some kind of ethics, I guess it just lacks in some people.

Although we are always told to pull up, very few people do. What this guy did happens, but normally it isn't so obvious. I get mad at myself for letting it go, and not saying anything until I lose. Next time tell the guy to shut the f*** up.

I have a problem with an in-house money league, where anyone can sub. Teams are bringing in decent players to sub, putting them in as a C player, and we have to give huge spots to players that play as well or better as we do. There is a pattern starting, because if there is money involved, someone will always do what they can to beat the system. I may quit the league over it. I wont name the place or the team, but If anyone reading this is from Denver, lets call the the poolroom-Shakespears, and the team captain last night-George.

What happens if I'm not playing a tournament, and I am gambling with someone and this guy decides to do this? What am I supposed to do?
Trust me anyone can be sharked. If your gambling and someone is sharking you then take your time and just relax or let them know your not having any bs and to sit still and stfu.If that person bothers you that much then dont gamble with them. You say you want to be able to play through this and get better with it then you shouldnt be complaining about this guy if you feel that way because he is part of your training.I have had guys who throw there cue around or whine or get really angry to try ot throw you off,but i feed off it and think its funny they act like that,i just grin and win.:D

...This is irrelevant. The guy sharking him was not his opponent.

Its all relevant as he said he wants to be able to handle sharking and become mentally stronger, whats the difference if he gets the seasoning from his opponent or spectator?;)

If you read the entire thread you would see he asked what he should do if he is gambling and being sharked also.

Its a difficult situation. Like you said, what if they pull this crap while you are gambling and there isn't a director.

You know if you say something to him, tempers are going to escalate and someone is going to start swinging. It may be you or him.

My suggestion is not to say a word to him, rather, coldcock him with the butt of you cue.

If you have a good enough stroke he'll say down till you're done. :)

Never ever do that!! Not with your cue, always use a house cue for this and then you don't have to clean the cue afterwards.
