Trying to rep all supportive posts.

Gus with a refinish by someone other than Barry= A ferrarri with a $250 paint job .

A Barry with a warped shaft is = to a horse with a broken leg

Being a man of Honor , straighting this fiasco out and preserving 30 + years in the cue busisness would be priceless.

Lets hope Don steps up and does the right thing . I can only imagine the residual cost of deals lost for Don the longer this continues.

Well here is my take...

I am hesistent to comment but again, I jump in to give my perspective.

I always, always offer a money back guarentee. I think I have had 2-3 cues returned to me. I always gave their money back no question. I have probably done 200-300 deals over the years. While I did and never said a word about it, I frankly was surprized when someone wanted to have their money back.

I bought a Gus cue from a dealer on here at AZ in the Northeast. No problem at all, but he too offered 100% (less shipping) money back on the deal.

Not making excuses and trying to not take sides, I think Don got in a mess when traded cues got sold and then instead of a simple deal it got to be multiple deal very quickly.

I have bought cues from Don at DCC. I dont know Chris but he seems okay too.

I hope this works out okay for everybody.

Ken

Cudos To 8-ball Rat

Bravo to 8-ball Rat.........I admire your style and also your integrity on insisting that all the curtains be drawn back so that all may see........no private discussions on a publicly debated topic.....no closed door discussions should be permitted on this topic other than the plaintiff & the defendant....assuming "Sureman" still has the balls to crawl out from under the rock he must be hiding under.........Anyway, you power slammed Nick by making his post public and your redress of him was both appropriate and well-done.......Cudos to you brother......Way 2 Go!!!!!!!!

I don't know sureman183 at all. People who do know him say he's a good guy with a good heart, and for all I know that could be true.
But he's sure not making me or a lot of other people out here into believers right now.

I'm sure that he doesn't like all this discussion on AZ about a cue deal that went south, and he's probably upset and angry about all this bad PR.
He didn't plan on this happening, he's into cues has a pretty good rep
and he been doing this for 30+ years and is just trying to turn a buck.
The thing is sometimes sh*t happens when it does you just got to check your ego at the door, swallow your pride, tuck your hurt feelings away
and sort things out. The thing is sureman183 has the power to end all this whenever he wants, it's that simple.

So when people come out here and throw terms around like lynch mob
and your trying to tar and feather him, nobodies trying to do that, it makes me laugh!

But you know who's not laughing right now though, Chris.
That's right Chris isn't laughing because here's a guy
who's probably dreamed about owning a Gus for years.
Finally he gets in a position where he can go out and make it happen.
So he goes out and tries to purchase his dream $8,500 Gus.
Things go south and he ends up in the middle of this sh*t storm.

Guess what he's out money, doesn't have his dream Gus, somehow he's
got two cues he's got to sell (one with a warped shaft).
When he started out trying to buy one cue. Chris didn't plan on this happening either, and he's upset too.

So both of these guys, Don and Chris have things in common.
Their both upset, they both didn't want this to happen, they both love
cues, they both have good reps, they both have people who speak well
of them. Dons been doing this longer than Chris and is more experienced,
so there's a difference but with all these other things you both have in common I think you guys can work this out.

Chris wants to speak and work this out, as can be seen by the way the first posts were worded he never wanted it to come to this. Your both
grown men, so if you both check your egos and tuck away your hurt feelings I'm sure the both of you can work this out.

You both just want this to go away, but it's not going to away on it's own. Chris can't do this without you Don so the balls in your court, you hold the power to make this happen and end this!
Good Luck!

After all your posts, this one is your best.
Let's work together on getting this ended.
I think the negative posts will only make people more bitter and less likely
to be willing to communicate. I know there are people in Tunica trying to
mediate the situation right now.
I can only hope this ends soon with everyone happy.

As you know Troy, this is all that I wanted from the beginning. Most threads like this turn to $hit in a hurry. For the most, this thread has stayed on topic. I fully appreciate all of the positive (and negative) input from all members.

I'm sorry if this has been suggested, but after reading many (not all) of the posts, here's my solution:

Chris gets the Szam back; Don gets the 2 cues back that were traded for it (Barry & Schick); Chris gets the Szam refinished by Barry.

No money needs to be exchanged since they are simply undoing the "solution" that turned ugly. Chris will have to pay a little for the refinish but it's less than it would cost him to sell the 2 cues (one w/warped shaft) & take the $800 hit on top of it - plus he gets the cue he wanted that would now be as described (after Barry refinishes it).

Not sure why this would not be acceptable to both - just trying to help. I hate to see these threads/disputes not get resolved.

And just for the record, I agree that Don should have simply refunded the money or undone the deal if Chris wasn't satisfied, especially since the refinish job was misrepresented. Hopefully Don would at least help w/the cost of the refinish, but if not, lesson learned and Chris gets the cue he wanted.

Good luck!

Dave

I hope this is resolved if u r told a refish is by barry and its not then u deserve a refund to your satisfaction. Sounds like you are being very open and keeping it positive. Good luck

Wow
I took a bit of time away from the forum only to return to see a dream acquisition for Chris where he was grinning from ear to ear at the show only turn into a nightmare.
I sure hope this is resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Good luck to you Chris.
We will pray for you as you truly cannot loose any more sleep over this.

Hi Myron,

That seems so long ago right now. However, I'm in fine spirits. This is just an unfortunate situation that I hope resolves itself sooner than later.

Please tell Daphne I said hello!

Thanks for the kind words,
Chris

left out

I am only posting because I feel left out. It seems like every AZ'r has given
Their opinion.I can say that i have known Don for 12 years and he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Sometimes people get caught up in things and do not know how to get out of them.I know it's hard when your the person on the short end waiting to get the deal done but I really believe Don will make this right.I have bought Barry's and Gus's and if they were refinished always asked for a bill or copy of one by Barry. When I have sold thease cues the papework made the sale very easy.

Chris, this is all so very sad. I'm truly shocked at how all this has panned out. I'm wishing you the best in getting this worked out to a fair conclusion. It appears you expected to get an $8500 Gus for your initial Showman trade/cash deal. That sounds fair enough. So, you should end up with that or at least an equivalent that obviously meets your satisfaction, not less imo.
