These things aren't as upsetting to the women players as they would be to the men players. (Not all men, but many.)
The women have always been quick to see the big picture and to understand the importance of making certain sacrifices.
This is the right decision. There's no doubt in my mind that the women players will agree as well.
That is so sexist.![]()
Didn't he rename the thing after all the mess it started with the original name so now it's just an International tournament not a "World" one?
The only people I see getting screwed are the women players. They either play and forfeit their points, or don't play and forfeit a possible pay day. In this case, they are getting screwed by both the WPA and DP. (Funny, because in porn DP means double penetration.)
sad part is, I'd rather watch the women play on good back and forth matches than the men run 6 packs. After the first 2 B&Rs, they all look the same.

Isn't the WPA itself run out of someone's basement?

the fact that this announcement doesn't come as a surprise should be a huge beacon as to what is wrong with pool.
Yes, the WPA had an issue as of 10/28 here (Post #24):
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=382156
Then as of 11/4 the WPA approved the name change (Post#57):
"I am able to inform you that I have received confirmation from Dragon Promotions that they have changed the name of their event to “Women’s International Pool Championship” and in doing so, the WPA no longer has any concern about this event being misconstrued as the world championship."
Now a couple of week's later somehow Dragon's sliminess surprises them and now have a problem with the event :boring2:
Well, I can see how someone may see my comment that way, but those of us who have been around this game for a long time and know it's history will understand exactly what I mean.
Don't be so concerned about the women. They can handle themselves and they'll be fine.
Yeah-a bunch of stuff must have gone down in the last few days. They came down VERY hard. I imagine there will be no World Straight Pool anymore either.
Yeah, but with the 14.1 the WPA has had no interest in staging any "world" events so they probably wouldn't step in, unless they have finally had enough of Dragon. With 14.1 the WPA wouldn't find any one in the mid east or Asia to cough up the money as there is no interest in the game.
