Dumping - caught

I do find it interesting that in the span of a year, Joao went from a traveling hustle, arranging cash games under a fake name, to a full blown five-figure match fixing scandal. Anyone who seriously suggests that he be given grace is a chump.

Sam and Thomas knew exactly what kind of person he was when they decided to go in with him on this. If you work/ deal in money with any of these people going forward, it’s “fool you twice, shame on you”.
 
Something else I was thinking about that nobody has really brought up, not only did they dump the rail, these 2 lowlifes were also cutting Joao out of money as well! If you look at the screenshot, they clearly say "we may have to chop that with Joao if he sees the msg." Obviously Joao didn't know how many total side bets they took.

I don’t know how to access my wife’s phone. How does a GF’s mom know how to access an estranged BF’s phone? I don’t get it. I also don’t accept apologies from bad actors caught acting bad. Apologizing after being caught is meaningless to me. Forgiveness is what we want when we screw up. Apologies alone do not garner forgiveness. Mom isn’t helping. She makes them look like a dysfunctional mess. What a mess! Just my opinion.

If I bet it's my own money and I'm the one playing. I'm probably a dick for thinking this way but I always get a chuckle when someone buys a player in a Calcutta and the player leaves early after the first loss. Why should some joker on the sideline get anything at all... I don't think they should. If you're not playing you shouldn't be allowed to bet. If someone is dumb enough to bet on something they're not involved in I don't feel sorry for them in the least. If you want to bet, have the balls to get off the porch.

Some people do not have passcodes on their phones, or have ones that are ridiculously easy to guess, like 1234 or similar. Also, in close families, people sometimes borrow each others phones.

What is an apology without making an attempt of redeeming oneself? Just empty words from people who were sad they got caught. But I guess, since killing or severly injuring these people is not really what normal people do, the recommended course of action would be to just avoid them from now on. People like this do not change in my experience. If you are a scheming, dishonest and downright criminal person, so many thresholds have allready been crossed to get to that point, that getting back to being decent is an uphill battle, if it is possible at all. You can be a thief or a swindler without double-crossing your friends, you'd still be a crook, but you'd at least have the last shred of your dignity left, you'd have a soul. Crossing that line is something that people will go to great lengths never to do, even people on the wrong side of the law, unless they are psychopaths. Every past and future endeavour is now suspect, and I would be surprised if something like this doesn't pop back up again with these people, since they may have gotten away with it before.

I’m glad people bet on pool as it’s always been a big part of the game. But it’s astounding to me that people would wager this type of money on these low level matches.

It includes video of three shots Joao likely made to miss at minutes 8:50 in the video; a list of gamblers who shouldn’t have lost money betting on Joao Andre at 10:50 (including a loser that Haas’s promoter, Sam Gilmer, won’t repay because Gilmer figures the fellow is a bigger scumbag than Gilmer himself); and Sam Gilmer’s apology at 10:00.

I don’t know where Dupree got the bum shots. A video of the match on YouTube is 3 hours, 36 minutes long but only goes to where Thomas Haas leads Joao Andre 15 to 14. Two of Dupree’s shots come when Thomas Haas leads Joao 18 games to 14 games (ends up 21 to 16).

First (after the first couple) Dupree video I even bothered to start watching.

Unless there are new revelations or twists, I'm standing on nomaibeezness.
 
See, if you were in jail, and you f^*ked with somebody, you disrespect somebody, you can end up dead. But out here in the real world, there's no consequences. They only had to apologize, which imo is nothing. I'm all for gambling in pool, but conspiring with several others to dump so everyone involved wins, even both players, to me that's just wrong.
If they were banned from competition for x amount of time, or lost their sponsorships for x amount of time they may think twice before pulling stunts like this.
In reality if there were any consequences, it would just teach them to become better at keeping it hidden. Burner phones or only in-person meetings should be pretty apparent when your trying to scam people out of that kind of money.
