Earl wins it 11-6

Well, Earl made me eat my words. I had said that Earl would never win another major tournament, and I was wrong, very wrong! I felt that with his disjointed attitude and weakened game he would never be a factor again. All I can say is WOW! For him to resurrect his career after all he's been through the last few years is akin to raising the Titanic in my book. Simply amazing! First he wins the bar table tourney in Reno, but I attributed that to never having to shoot a long shot. But now this. I guess with Earl ANYTHING is possible! My hat is off to the man who I've often called the best tournament 9-Ball player of all time! :thumbup2:

Ok, Earl won a biggie. Sigel went deep in a tournament recently. I wanna see Davenport nail one down!

Congrats to Earl on this impressive win! I know Earl like Raj Hundle doesn't like it that guys that throw down the sponge break are getting the money, but it looked like to me he committed to a very sporty 10 ball break that tournament. He's been a little stubborn with soft breaking in the 9 ball tournaments, but when he commits to something different there I think he could be a force against all the modern day players. The days of the power breakers dominating are no doubt in the distant past. If it was up to Earl there wouldn't be any jump sticks either, but I see he has one. As long as Earl doesn't let the wheels fall off mentally I think he can do really well. In this tournament he chirped a little and complained about the rolls but it was more in a Mika kind of way. He didn't let it beat him and that's what I like to see!!!! Gooo Earl

Congratulations to Earl on a great win.:smile:I hope that Fox sports doesn't butcher the match when they edit it for broadcast in December.

I don't know him, but I can see nagardy smilin from here. I think there's a lot of smiling going on. How cool.

Well Just wanted to let you know I took that road trip to see the finals..it is something you will not want to miss when it airs. Full of great surprises ...funny..and serious. Earl is pool.. hats off to Shawn P. also

Like any good movie..it has a beginning ; middle and end. Fox would be nuts to edit one single moment of this final. It has the ability to bring this sport to the fore front with all the incredible happenstance that could never be scripted.

Couldn't agree more....hard to argue that he is not the best tourney player....EVER!!

Good to see him back!

I too had written Earl off to win another major. I said on here about a year ago that Earl, like many declining players couldn't make those long 8 and 9 foot shots anymore (the first thing that starts to go IMO) as players get older. I too said that Earl found a new life on the BB after the Reno, and he should stick to it because of no long shots. But Earl has showed me I was wrong, and after watching him for 3 days at the Seminole Finale I feel 10 years younger this morning at the pool table. Thanks Earl. Johnnyt

They will. They have to. Companies paying MILLIONS for commercial air-time will make it so. Of the 17 games played in the finals, we'll be lucky to see 7 or 8 COMPLETE games on television.

It will all be a factor of how much air time the Seminole Tribe bought on Fox. The more time, the more we'll see, it's as simple as that.

need... more... info... pleeeeeeease!

Since you were there, would you give us your take on the quality of play from each player? Breaks, potting, safes, etc? Any packages? It was 6-6 and obviously Earl took the last 5, I wonder how he broke it open. Were both gentlemen or was there some tense spots?

It's killing me that we've got nothing but a final score.

I just went back through and looked at the brackets. All I can say is he got there with a horribly tough draw. Just looking at those names he sent to the losers side and then being able to win two sets over the same pro(who also beat some very very good players) shows the man was on. I think he should move to Florida.

Now how do we get him to take off the Fred Krueger striped long sleeved shirts? I like his attitude personally, let's me know how hard he is fighting to win. Earl doesn't go off when he's playing people that have no chance to beat him. Trust me I've played him in a tourney where I jumped up on a 9 ball and missed it and he let me shoot it again and again til I made it and gave me the win. I talked to him in Des Moines about a year later and he hardly even remembered it, which further let me know he prob does it on the regular.

Go Earl

Awesome job Earl! I too hope Fox doesn't totally butcher the production. If I had to guess, I would say it will totally underwhelm the pool fans of the world.

Way to go Earl!!!! Awsome stuff

No one makes the game more enjoyable to watch than you.

I know what you mean. That's why I made the trip .It was tough for the both of them to get going. Just my opinion but I think there was a lot of tension in the air . Not to mention excitement. I wish I could tell you about everything that happened. They were trading racks most of the match. Break wasn't really working for either player as one would scratch or come up dry leaving the other out. Total excitement. Will tell you this....Score 8-6 Earl...wins...makes it 9-6 ...raises his arms yelling...YEAH !!! goes over to Shawn ..arm extended for a hand shake saying to him " good game " Shawn says .."it's not over " Earl says "What !!" at which point Shawn informs him it's a race to 11...Earl goes ..Earl in the most funny of ways...has the crowd in a up-roar...CLASSIC MOMENT IN SPORTS !!!! .Tune in to Fox
