Earl wins the one pocket in Goldsboro Reply with quote
Earl Strickland finally one a tournament after a long two year dry spell. He played Larry Nevel in the finals at Goldsboro, North Carolina last Sunday. It was a very exciting match in which Larry and Earl both annihilated their opponents to reach the finals. The match went neck and neck as Earl hit a 8 and out with Larry having 3 games racing to 5 and 7 balls to win the 4th game to put him on the hill. Larry left Earl nothing but a bank into a ball on the long rail, and the mighty earl fired in the combination bank and proceeded to play position on a combination to force a ball over to the 2 froze balls on the spot so they could be broke apart and make the remainder of the balls on Larry's side of the table. This might be the most amazing 8 and out I have ever seen in my life. Earl has finally broke the ice. He finished 13 through 16th in the nine ball. Go Earl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mike,

Just like I told you a few weeks ago when we were in Savannah, The only person that can beat Earl - is Earl. When he's on - he is still devastating. He just needs to find a way to stay at the table like he did back in the days when he dominated the game. I truly believe that there is a 6th US Open Title in Earl's future, and I hope this is the start of his climb back to the top - where he belongs!

Way to go earl! Really he should be practicing his 10-ball though. :) I think it is awesome he got back into the win column. Especially since one pocket isn't even his main game.

I don't know..........................maybe, just maybe, it IS his game. Seems pretty knowledgeable at it, and can definitely be all offense when the need arises. Just ask Larry Nevel and the rest of the field.

It could be his MAIN game now - who knows - I just meant you always hear of Earl being the King of 9-ball for so many years - not one pocket. Either way I am happy for him.

I can speak from experience: While I am back playing with my Bender cue and regular Maple shafts, the OB1 shaft the way Mike Gulyassy has Earl's shaft tricked out, makes playing one pocket, FUN.

A talent like Earl doesn't come along very often and a talent like his doesn't disappear over night either. He's still got some more wins left in his game.
I hope he really bears down and focus's on the nailing another major.

Trying to stir up a lil action.. ?

Not with this guy! Mike is one of those guys I just say hello to when I see him. We DO NOT discuss pool games! At least not between me and him.

gogogo Earl the pearl strickland!! Only few days until the US Open. and I RLY Hope that he wins!!!

Good Deal!

Nice to see you and Earl's arrangement already paying off. Other factors too I realize but Earl focused on the table once again should be a great thing for the pool world.

THANKS!

Look like Earl at this age still going strong. Salute.
What the hell is that supposed to mean. You mean I am old at forty. I sure don't feel "over the hill." Gosh, I turn forty and the "age thing" kicks in. D!$@ it to hell.

No kidding. I am forty too. Btw, you only feel as old as the women you sleep with:D

Props to Earl for winning that tourney, very cool:)
