Edwin "Bandido" Reyes Lives On

Rest in Peace Edwin. This is truly a sad day in the pool world. I'm at a loss for words.

Jim

My condolences to his family. I grieve that some of his family were there and had to witness it.

I always enjoyed reading his posts..... how ironic that his last post said this, only 8 days ago....

Second, in addition to the Amway Cup I was also just invited to the Philippine Open and the Womens World 10-ball. If you are interested in helping or have words of advice for traveling to the Philippines I would love to hear from you! I'm really excited for the whole experience! I believe the other player from the US that will be going to the Amway Cup and The Womens 10-ball is Monica Webb.

I will be sure to give updates on the Amway ie. internet and bracket info. Hopefully there will be some live streaming!

Thanks again for everything,
Sarah
If there's anything I can do to help, find your way around, keep you safe and make your stay enjoyable here in the Philippines just let me know.

This is sad very sad indeed , now you all may think I've been hiding under a rock but I've personaly never heard of Edwin but From what I've read and seen of his cue making he was a great cue maker and this is very sad and I hope justice is survied this can't go with out the person being found that is respondable for this , and hope the best for is Family at this sad time.

God rest his soul. All that I can say is that I hope and pray that the violence ends now. Billiards in the Phils is so full of enthusiasm and potential. This is a shame...Tom

Edwin called me up and we spoke several times about streaming and even the possibility of TAR coming to Manila. He was very professional and friendly and I could tell how passionate he was about the game and his (at the time) new organization. Pool has lost a true friend.

Condolences to his family and friends. Hopefully the violence stops before others are lost.

Shocked!!

I am stunned to hear of this!!

My deepest condolences to Edwin's family, friends and fellow pool players! This will certainly change the face of pool, not only in the Philippines but world wide.

I pray the killer(s) are brought to justice!

Ray

I don't understand....

Obviously there are people posting on this forum that think there was a hit put on Edwin and seem to think it had to do with his ideals towards pool in the Philippines. Is it really this much of a corrupt and political issue in their country? I mean I can not imagine somebody in the United States ordering a hit on somebody that wanted pool to succeed because maybe they didn't meet eye to eye. I guess I am just completely in shock that this could happen over pool? Is it that lucrative in the Philippines to organize or run tournaments? What is the purpose in having somebody murdered? The motive?

My condolences go out to his family and his children. I believe that God will see to it that justice prevails here.

Moderators

I hope they can freeze his az account, and maybe look at any correspondence Edwin had on here?. May help in the investigation. This is sad.

There was obviously a hit and obviously it was pool related. The motive? Revenge. Retribution. Loss of income and power? What enemies did Edwin have outside of the other side of this fight? In all other aspects of his life as we know it he was generous with his time and knowledge, hospitable and friendly. There is no way that this was a random act of violence, it was a premeditated act of vengeance.

Look to who loses the most if Edwin Reyes' ideals prevail in the Philippines' pool scene.

Thank God we aren't at the point in the USA where people are killing each other over the right to govern pool. But we can damn sure take a lesson from a person who died fighting for the player's rights to be active in their own destiny.

I created this quickly, if anyone wants to use it as their avatar also then please do to show support.

I agree. Very bad! I don't even feel like going now after hearing this. I'm sick to my stomach.

Hello Jay. Edwin will not like it if his murderer wins. Neither will he like it if his tragic death will be used in promotions or in politics. So let me be clear with this... my reaction to your post is neither promotion nor politics...

Let his life be an inspiration in doing what is right. Edwin devoted his last few years to Philippine billiards not because he wanted to earn money. He wanted the Philippines to be a blueprint for other countries to follow. Amidst all the personalities who looked good in the media, Edwin was always in the background ever being that generator of ideas, principles, fairness, procedures, design, strategy and hard work. Let him remain in the background and allow his momentum to steamroll.

Be disgusted, but let it not remain. Be afraid but not intimidated. Philippine pool is not really just Philippine pool. It is a huge part of world pool. That was how Edwin saw it. So please support all movements toward pool development in any country by supporting its players.

I cannot stop imagining what Edwin thought of as he saw that gun pulled out. Edwin was strong enough not to have wasted the last few minutes of thoughts that was granted to him in cruelty. The usual way was a bullet in the head but at close range, he was made to live a little. Who had him killed was ruthlessly angry with him and this execution was well thought of. The assassin must have been made to say something but I think Edwin kept his thoughts close to the people he loved.

I knew that Edwin thought of me among others. I was the first one he called a few months ago when he found his father slumped from cardiac arrest. This is why I felt a warm warm embrace in the car just before his wife Nilda called me and all I heard was crying over the phone. At least I knew that the killer was not successful in having him die in misery. Edwin had his thoughts elsewhere. It is not far that he even thought of the forum because it was a part of his life.

When all this disgust is done with, I call on you to heed to John's suggestion in the other thread to perpetuate Edwin's spirit at the forum and through the world of pool which he lived in.

Thank you all.

Martin
