With all of the railbirds pro-Austin or not, they have both played the same people, the same tournaments, and at the same time. They have both beaten opponents that beat the other.
Billy Palmer beat Efren, and a month later is in a rubber match with Austin in Sacramento. The kid has skills, and whether he plays Efren or someone else isn't the point, so much as how will he carry himself......
Personally, I've been watching a different Austin than I saw a year ago. More focus, self control, and even his shot selection seems to have changed abit more. Comparing him to two years ago is like comparing apples and oranges.
Will he win, maybe not, but the chance and the drive are there to find out.
And regardless of who did or didn't vote for him, HE'S STILL THERE!
Which means that people wanted to see him there.
Efren may very well be the best in history, but he's lost more in the last couple of years than he did 10 years ago.
Of course he'd be the favorite against pretty much anyone alive, but he can be beaten.
SVB didn't find Austin such a walk in the park a little over a month ago.
Neither has Bobby Hunter, Kim Davenport, and countless other big dogs.
He's taken down alot of big names, found time to get perfect grades, and improve his game.
I know I didn't have that kind of drive or focus at his age, and personally, I just want to see him do well, win or lose.
At least he's taking the opportunity to find out-
just my .02 worth-
