Efren v Austin Murphy Betting Action

Cmon its unfair to say that any games Austin wins will be given to him. Austin has beaten ALOT of good players and has put many packages together. Efren if heavily favored, but dont make it like he is playing a no nothing banger.

I didn't mean for it to sound like that.

I didn't mean for it to sound like any games he wins will be given to him, but I do think that if Efren gives it one hundred percent, Austin will be unlikely to get more than 5 games.

Wow, most of you have no idea how good Austin plays. In a race to 9 in 9 ball Efren would not want to spot Austin more than 2 games.

One of the funnier posts I've seen in a while.

Probably because all the IPT tournaments were 9-ball. And the previous ITP challenge matches. It's weird that this match is the only 8-ball match.

if the kid magically wins.......... I can see this forum loaded with topics of " is Austin the next efren?" "How do you think SVB would stand against Austin M.?"

Everytime one player does jsut a little good they are praised as a god........Just a observation!
Very true LOL,

But you gotta admit... SVB has done a ton more in 1 year then a little good.

Now I'm doubting myself. I do believe that all the IPT matches and tournaments so far have been 8-ball.

I hope Efren puts the pedal to the metal. When people tune in to watch Efren they expect the best.

With all of the railbirds pro-Austin or not, they have both played the same people, the same tournaments, and at the same time. They have both beaten opponents that beat the other.
Billy Palmer beat Efren, and a month later is in a rubber match with Austin in Sacramento. The kid has skills, and whether he plays Efren or someone else isn't the point, so much as how will he carry himself......
Personally, I've been watching a different Austin than I saw a year ago. More focus, self control, and even his shot selection seems to have changed abit more. Comparing him to two years ago is like comparing apples and oranges.
Will he win, maybe not, but the chance and the drive are there to find out.
And regardless of who did or didn't vote for him, HE'S STILL THERE!
Which means that people wanted to see him there.
Efren may very well be the best in history, but he's lost more in the last couple of years than he did 10 years ago.
Of course he'd be the favorite against pretty much anyone alive, but he can be beaten.
SVB didn't find Austin such a walk in the park a little over a month ago.
Neither has Bobby Hunter, Kim Davenport, and countless other big dogs.
He's taken down alot of big names, found time to get perfect grades, and improve his game.
I know I didn't have that kind of drive or focus at his age, and personally, I just want to see him do well, win or lose.
At least he's taking the opportunity to find out-

just my .02 worth-

I will bet anybody if they spot me 11 games in this match! Just tell me the amount you want to bet and you got me. I agree that good players can and do give up monster spots. I like you have also seen them outrun the nuts. However in this match up I would have to bet on Austin. I have seen the kid play numerous times, and he doesn't fold no matter who hes playing. Oh and to back up a little to the spot getting and giving. I have rarely seen a spot that big. Something like the last 4 or six out sure, but giving that many games on the wire in a short race is crazy. Again any who like it pm me and we have a bet if they do indeed play.

Both you and uwate have valid points, I think.

Personally, I think 10 or 11 games going to 15 is outrageous enough that I would be inclined to empty out on myself if I got in that position.

Secondly, if there is going to be action of both sides for the bookmaker, it has to be with some kind of outrageous spot, otherwise everyone will bet heavy on Reyes. People will want to bet on Reyes, so you have to tax them for it.

No, this is incorrect. ALL IPT Matches have been 8 ball.

I freely admit that SVB done a shitload.......

But it jsut irks me when 1 player regardless if they been playing 1 year or 20 years finally wins a very big tourney or big action........people start posting like mad if they will be the next greatest or not. or as I said. a god......

There's no doubt that Austin is great for his age....

There's no doubt that Austin is great for his age and that there is a good chance that he will grow up to be a great player and may even dominate for a time, I have a problem with people giving him mopre credit right now because of his age than he deserves. There are a lot of other players that have worked worked hard and are better than he is right now that this shouldn't even be an issue.

I'd love to take austin and 10 on the wire?? please?? Where can you watch this match?

If Efren and Austin can be informed that this is a gambling match, or can arrange to play again I would stake Efren in this. But not in an exhibition. No offense to Austin, but I "really like" Efren's end of it 8 ball giving the kid 10 on the wire to 15.

Looks like another non match for the IPT. I like Austin, but he is just wrong as an opponent for Efren. Efren will toy with him in Eight Ball, giving him chances to win some games. I think Efren will totally control this match, making the final score something like 15-7, 8 or 9.

Lets go Austin-son, if play well...no can defense.

I agree Jay, this match is just silly on so many different levels. IMO
