Elusive Ebony Titlist

Well, most of you know that I've been hunting the elusive ebony titlist for some time now. I set out to find one, and managed to get Paul Drexler's last ebony titlist. Ideally, I wanted a wrapless titlist, but most cue-builders explained that the ebony in the older titlists tended to crack from age and most prove unusable unless you segment the handle. True to form, Paul did have one last titlist but the handle was cracked. He and I worked on a design that would blend a classic look with a little bit of jazz. Because the cue is 60" he was able to really push up the points and make the wedges longer than usual. You'll note that the butt of the cue has curved wedges, which I appreciate since I tend to hold the cue a little further back from time to time, and won't feel a difference when shooting. These pictures are Paul's but I'm hoping to load some new ones after the cue arrives this week. I hope you all enjoy the show:

This last picture just has some dust on it.

DUST ON IT !?!?!?!?

You now have lost all of my respect....

Gorgeous cue, but is the wedge not really a wedge? It looks like it's not flat but rounded flush with the cue. I've never seen that before...not knocking it, just asking.:)

Beautiful cue, Paul does great work, but needs to stop taking pictures in his dusty shop, lol.

You are correct....

Youre right theyre rounded so I wont get distracted when I grip further back. Perhaps MOP points is a better term :)

Very nice. I like the way you had the butt cap done. Very classy!

Shame on Pual for taking dusty pictures!

This is my favourite titlist conversion to date.

Rarity of the ebony titlist aside, what i like most about this cue is that the points are high. That makes this cue look so current but with heritage.
There's so many things i like about this cue, the classic inlays, the wedge butt design, bumperless bolt at the butt, lizard wrap...

The only thing i would change is to have the wedge design shaped like a wedge as well. But this is a personal preference as the OP mentioned that he likes to hold the rounded butt better.

Thanks for sharing....

I certainly do like rounded butts. Never had an interest in the flat ones ;)
Thanks for the kind words. I wanted it to be exactly as you described it: contemporary and classic.

Couldn't agree more. I'm not a big fan of titlist conversions. They usually just don't appeal to me... but this is STUNNING!

Looking forward to more photos.

I like the "wedge"

I like the way the "wedge" was done. I am suprised I have not seen something like that before as I would prefer it as opposed to the traditional way of doing it. Very nice indeed!

what a cue, I just picked up my first Titlist conversion done by Barnhart and could not be more happier with the cue, I bet it plays just as good as mine!!

It is Sweet!

Yes the cue plays amazingly well, in fact it's changed my thinking about shafts. I've always been an LD guy and had Paul make me an OB pro and a traditional maple with an ivory ferrule (in case I ever sold it I knew someone might want a traditional shaft). Well the traditional shaft has a better feel and hit to it than the OB, and I have more power and control with the traditional shaft! So now I'm scratching my head wondering what's going on? Maybe this is what happens when you shoot with a higher quality maple shaft?

The hit on this cue is fantastic. All additions and glamour add-ons aside, it plays like a one-piece cue, stiff, solid, and great feedback. When I'm shooting with it, I often wonder what history the cue has seen. It's older than I am and I can't imagine the money that has changed hands over this cue, or any older house cue. It's great cleaning up and playing with a piece of history.

I hope to have new pictures up in the next few days. Thanks for all the kind comments-Ryan

Thanks for the compliments

Thanks for the compliments. It pains me to let it go, but it will make another player very happy and proud.
