Emily Duddy VS Ine Helvik match Amway Cup March 2013

Get real. If a bloke started a thread saying he was a great player and deserved respect for it, and was subsequently proven to be entirely average, he'd be roasted alive - and rightly so. Furthermore, she started this thread with the sole intention of shouting "Look at me! Look at me! I CAN play!!" Looks like SHE hunted down the only video of her playing well to me...

All I'm seeing is someone who has been coached, drilled and practiced - but with more natural beauty than natural ability. And good luck to her - but I strongly suggest she let her game do the talking from now on.

Congrats!!!! You just won this thread!!!

Farrow?

Don't bother changing your screen name. I think it was an interesting surprise.

Bingo.

Funny thing is, it was never really a secret. Most people know my old screen name. Even the mods.

Dude, you have no clue what so ever. She never said look at me. She mentioned she has been working on her game, that she knows she gets out of rythm now and again, and she needs work on her pre shot routine. She was here looking for help and suggestions. Instead she got pompous limeys ragging on her cause she wore cool shoes

She did NOT proclaim herself to be a FANTASTIC shot. And you and the other haters have to stop comparing the men to the woman. Just because she might be a "b" player in a mens' tournament/leagues means nothing. She has to be judged with ONLY other woman players, and she plays right sporty. Is she in Alison Fisher territory, nope, most likely never will be, but who would ?? Can she hope to get better by competing against some of the best in the world? Yep.

She is out there doing what a lot of men dreamed they could do... hold their own against their peers in a pro tourney half way across the world.

Does that about sum it up ??

Sounded pretty good to me.

Dude, you're obsessed.

Well, lets go to the tape then.

You said this about Emily, and I quote;

Agreed. The gawkers and perverts in this thread who think that "Less is more!" are not interested in your professional career.

But then 2 seconds later say YOU this about Jeanette Lee';

She looks very stylish and professional...and hot too.

Yep, your consistency amazes us all...well played sir.

One question: have you forgiven Woody for running off with your adopted daughter?

On second thought, two questions: what was Sinatra like?

First off, Emily, well played match, if you can answer my questions in post #7 when you get the chance, it would be greatly appreciated.

to the plethora of AZ Nits: WTF! Emily was invited to an international competition and scored a win over a higher ranked player. Any of you chumps stepping up to international competition? Didn't think so. And then giving her crap about what she's wearing? Really?! As long as she's comfortable, who the **** cares?

I never really wanted to believe forums were like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAB858elJOw), but I do now.

That's because I have a realistic assessment of my shit-ass game. I know I don't belong in a world class tournament playing for my Country and embarrassing myself.

Well, I must interject here that my Uggs boots are some of the most comfortable things I own. I love my Uggs boots. They are comfy. Boots are cool!

I've heard my other half complain about long shirt sleeves or long pants, blaming them on why he missed a shot. He tripped over his pants leg or when he was breaking, the sleeve interfered. And my favorite, "These shoes are too tight."

If Emily feels comfy in her boots, more power to her! I can relate!

My wife cherishes the rare cold days here in Houston area, because she has an opportunity to wear her Uggs!

1. She did NOT look worried.
2. Better taste for whom exactly. Guys that are 100 or Gay ;)

1. Lets put it this way, she wouldn't have to worry showing her ass off for the world to see if she had appropriate attire.

2. I think you are obsessed with gays, and probably you may be "in the closet." :D

I think you're putting a bit too much emphasis into this 'invite'. My understanding was that several others were given an invite first and simply declined. They just go down a list until 4 people say "Sure. I'll go." Regardless, she is playing on a world stage against world class players. She's posting videos of herself asking for criticism. She's even stating that she can take that criticism no matter how harsh. So, the comments come rolling in. Why are YOU getting so upset about this??

All I've ever said on this subject from the get-go was that Emily is playing in a world-class pro event. She's playing against world class players. Yet she herself is NOT at that level yet. That's not an insult. Its just a statement of truth. Can she get there? Sure. But it'll take time and energy and practice. Rather than spending the time setting up websites, Facebook pages, coming onto AZ to tell people you really can play while asking for feedback, why not do the following:

Play the game. Play it over and over and over again. Play it so much that you don't have time to worry about whether or not you have a Facebook fan page or a website. Play it so much you don't have time to care about what people on AZ are saying about you or whether they've seen enough video footage of you. Play, drill, practice, repeat. Emily plays in a room with a LOT of strong players... even a few world beaters. Ask them questions. Watch them. Learn as much as you can and it'll get your game to that level if that's really where you want to be. Don't worry about whether people perceive you as something. Just work on BEING that something. Focus more on the being the best pool player you can be and less on people knowing that you're a pool player.

Can she hope to get better by competing against some of the best in the world?

NOPE. !!!!

It has been eleven (11) years since she started playing (by her own words). She has had plenty of time to get serious about the game, and improve. She should have taken some lessons with Pro's, and she probably would have already been a better player. With Emily, I don't see any improvements happening, unless she skipped the Pro' lessons, and she is willing to do that now. If not, "forget about it !!!" ...

The whole "great player" term is something she attributed to herself in this post:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4092028&postcount=1

"The player's that have been attacked the most in these forums are Myself (Emily Duddy), Borana Andoni, and Jennifer Barretta. The 3 of us are great players, we continue to put in the time in on our game, we compete non-stop putting in our own $, and give back to other players, leagues, and charities as much as possible. We also put ourselves out there to further pool. "

If you're going to call yourself great then you better back it up by playing great. Unfortunately, Emily doesn't. She plays average / slightly above average. She's is not Pro speed and definitely out-classed by a large percentage of the players playing in the Amway Cup - many of whom are at the world class level and a whole lot younger than Emily.

Concerning the video vs. Ine Helvik:

Was Ine injured? She reached for her shoulder numerous times after a shot.

Are you people actually watching the match objectively? Cause this is by no means a highlight reel of Emily playing great.

Emily indicated she's made a big jump in the last 6 months - Amway Cup was just last month wasn't it? Hmmm.

Emily won 10 total racks in the round robin stages at Amway. That's the 3rd lowest total for the entire event.

Great? Not even close.

It is upsetting to discover that the pool world is dominated by nits and haters.

Really? You're JUST now discovering that the pool world is full of Arrogant, Pompous Assholes???

Oh wow, the acronym for that would be ..............APA!!!

Maniac (disclaimer: this being a tongue-in-cheek post)

If living in reality means being a 'nit' and a 'hater', then yeah. I suppose I'm both of those things. I just choose to be honest rather then spray people with bullsh*t and sunshine because its what they want. It helps nothing. Ever.
