Emily Duddy VS Ine Helvik match Amway Cup March 2013

Emily, you ain't nobody if you don't have knockers.

If you want to look hot by wearing non-traditional outfits -- please do so. In fact, most of the women pros must shop at the same store because they all look the same. All black/black or black/gray with the shiny belt thing going on. Come to think of it, most of the women pros must go to the same hair stylist as well. I know imitation is flattery, but it seems like everyone copies off of Allison's do. At least you carve a different path for yourself and anything different, imo, is good.

In regards to your game, I think you play well. Seems like all of your critics must be on the pro tour themselves. I'd guess that NONE of them were every "INVITED" to play in an international event in their lives.

I've said this a million times on here, it seems as though those who post videos of themselves on here are in a small, small group. Good or bad, they have the balls to do it. It seems as though those who knock and belittle are NEVER in the group who EVER post videos of themselves. Hey, if someone thinks someone who posts a video of themselves plays like garbage, how about posting a video yourself playing underneath your critique? Then, we'll see if you're qualified to comment.

I have to say for the record that the skirt with boots look is hot....and if she looks good which makes her feel good she'll probably have more confidence at the table.

For the men complaining about that......

Tap, Tap, Tap!

Any of you fashion aficionados want to comment on Bustamante's outfits for the TAR match?

I thought be looked fabulous.

Has either Efren or Shane released a preview of what they will be wearing for their match?

Thanks

Kevin

For those that do not understand effective use of sarcasm, please ignore this post

<insert sarcasm>

... since I've significantly improved the last few years…

…ooh, she said significantly. Really, I think probably more than moderately but…

... I must say that I've worked on a lot on some …

… a lot? Maybe more that most but who says it is a lot just because she does?

... I began to extensively focus on those things, practicing more…

…practicing more? How do we really know if we don’t know how much she was practicing before. This can NEVER be proven.

... over the last few months I have gotten great tips and advice …

Here we go. Using the word GREAT again. Great tips, well she’d better let US decide how GREAT they really are. Tell us the tips and we, the omnipotent railnits will judge how great they really are.

... I am constantly seeking to learn and improve …

Oh geez! Constantly? Does she ever sleep?

<end sarcasm>

Emily – I appreciate the post and enjoyed the match. Anyone that says they haven’t had first rack jitters isn’t being truthful. You addressed the jitter issue pretty strong in game two.

With the attire banter, if you’d play in a gunny sack, I’d still watch.

As for your level of improvement, I can't (and won't) judge - that's only for you to determine.

Thanks anyone for the feedback! Here are my thoughts so far...

So far thank you to those of you who have given constructive and intelligent feedback and to the rest I simply pity your mentality and how you are choosing to approach life. No one who is productive , fulfilled, or satisfied in life would bash on or degrade another person for no reason.

As far as the way I dress goes, I am and always will dress my way and my style. I see merit in some comments regarding shoes (I've been playing and practicing in healed boots for years) and even before this thread I've beginning to balance myself out with flats after I received that wise recommendation recently.

To those of you so focused on this outfit, if you take the time to look through my photos from competition (not promotional or personal because before you say it yes I have very provocative pictures in bikinis) you can see my look is different, formfitting, usually provides full coverage and is stylish. My hair and make up are always done and I'm am dressed to kill. This is how I look 95% of the time when I leave my house, this is who I am. I do not agree with every player wearing black shirts, slacks and flats. I promote people to be who they are and to dress the part of the persona they want to present. If we want the general population to be interested in pool, it must be entertaining as well as professional. We are in a new age and the dress codes need to evolve! Most of the pros (women & men) are undressing in my opinion and have not much personal style or flair. I'd rather be daring and controversial than boring! My life is too short for boring, traditional, conservative, old fashioned or scared. You are more than welcome to your opinion because the future of fashion, pool and personal freedom is getting stronger whether you like it or not.

POOL WILL GET MORE FANS IF PLAYERS START BEING THEMSELVES THROUGH STYLE AND PERSONALITY. I am proud of who I am, strut, swag, curves, confidence and all. Not to mention I am proud of my body because I stay disciplined to keep myself healthy and looking good. I represent the new fearless woman and I want to help other women come out of their shell.

Not once did I feel uncomfortable bending over that table in my dress because I knew my tights had me covered and I felt confident about the way I looked. Sometimes I choose to wear slacks and blouses, but regardless of what I am wearing I am always wearing something I feel good in and represents me.

As far as missing the 9 ball the first game goes I have seen EVERY top player miss shots like that in person, including Allison, Jasmin, Ewa, Ga Young and many top men. I have seen countless top pros miss with ball in hand. People are human and I've been competing & watching events nonstop for a decade. I once saw Ga Young and Jasmin miss hangers on the 9 back and forth to each other for a couple innings. It happens to us all and the very best because we are humans and not robots!

Truth be told for the amount of pool played in competition a fraction has actually been seen by others, on TV or in person. Up until the recent introduction of live stream there was small amount of TV & video coverage and that was edited! Why do you think racks are skipped during TV matches, probably because top players made simple mistakes. If you think champions don't miss easy shots then you are living in a fantasy world. Live stream puts you out there for the world to see, mistakes and all. I am all for it and I'm not afraid to be a human and let me my mistakes go.

For the record I never said I was a champion because I am not yet, but I am without a doubt a great player who has the heart and talent to get become a champion one day. If you want to judge my game based on the little you've seen online then you are too small minded for me to care about your opinion. If you think that people are just born champions or never started somewhere and improved to get where they are currently they you can not see the big picture. That kind of person will never succeed in life because they don't think they can change.

Also I have never and will never be embarassed by a loss or performance because I am not afraid to make mistakes and there by grow stronger. I feel no one should take themselves too seriously and that there is very little to ever be embarrassed by....unless you are one of the people on these threads that come off like an ignorant, insecure, scared of change, know it all (I'm embarrassed for you!). You people obviously have no heart and are so afraid of failure that you would rather criticize someone else instead of trying something for yourself.

How many of you critics have even competed at all? Much less played in a World Championship or even been to Asia? The answer is probably not many because no respectable player or accomplished competitor would have the time or interest in bashing someone else's efforts.

In the pool world there is so much to learn and so much knowledge that can be shared. AZBIlliards and its forums has been and will be one of our greatest tools to help each other advance and the sport to grow. I just want the bullies to know that when they try to take over an intelligent thread or an effort to learn they come off as insecure parasites. Good luck to you losers, you need it the most.

Thanks for listening, lets end this rant with a great quote...

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Emily, I wish you all the best in your pool career and respect what you're doing.

But consider that you might look at clothes and grooming a little differently if you lived out of a suitcase 50 weeks a year.

Quote posted by Mia:

And a lot of the time, she just seems to play the wrong shot. Case in point... the video she posted of her first round at the AmWay cup. Her very first shot, she walks up and is hooked on the 2 ball. So she kicks at it, makes the hit, and leaves a straight in shot for her opponent. Why kick at it just to make a hit? Why not push out?? (End quote)

Here to respond to this and help you understand a rule that was in affect this tournament, also maybe check into rules before assuming someone doesn't know what they are doing. Of course I would have pushed out, but they implemented a rule to avoid soft breaking. At least 3 balls needed to be pocketed or pass the headstrip or a combination of the two or it would be an illegal break. The consequence is the players opponent has the option to take the table or push or to give the table back to the breaker and the breaker CAN NOT push at that point. This happen to be an illegal break and thus I was forced to kick at the 2 ball. I'm not sure if I agree with the point of this rule and I can tell you Allison Fisher had 2 illegal breaks in one of her TV matches so it has nothing to do with skill level. I heard the rule got started during the Mosconi Cup because of soft breaking and the WPA started using it towards the end of last year. There was a bad call connected with Jen Barretta during her TV match of this event the was of major controversy and the WPA actually issued her a formal apology at a press conference in Taiwan.

I think that I shouldn't have been playing in a World Championship if I ever shot that 2 ball instead of pushing out on that shot. Good thing that was not the case.

It's a good rule and should be implemented worldwide with immediate effect IMO. It has been routine in UK comps for many years.

I take it the 9 was on the spot as well?

Hi Emily, I'll watch the video tomorrow but wish to say THANKS for not allowing yourself to be driven off by negative posters. That shows me that you have a lot of inner strength and confidence. Good 4 U!!!!

Well this is the first time I have ever quoted myself, guess I hit the nail on the head!! This lady knows who she is and what she wants and I wish you all the best in life and pool!

So well put!

I saw the same thing yesterday and was kinda stunned. I mean, its a world event and the table rolls like that?!? That was awful. No skid. No spin. Nothing. Just a crap roll as a result of a poorly setup table I suppose.

This is what I don't understand... she came here and asked for criticism. And now we're all a$$holes for criticizing her? I've seen a few videos of Emily playing. The Ginky Memorial tourney... both Amway Cup patches... maybe one or two others. Frankly, she seems like a shot maker. Her cueball is a little out of control. I'm not saying Emily is bad. I never said Emily is bad. I'm just saying that she's clearly not 'there' yet. She's playing in a world event but is very clearly not a world class player. Not an insult. She may be just that one day. But in her second match, she plays a world class player. And in THAT match, her shot selection and the final score tell the tale.

If its criticism of her game she wants, then I'd say this... work on your cueball a bit more. You're already a shot maker so getting great shape will make your life that much easier. Also, spend less time walking around the table to look at each next shot. Sometimes, its not really necessary. But instead, spend that time on your pre-shot routine (lining up the shot, practice stroking, etc.). It seems like you walk around the table, see where your next shot should be, then just bend over and fire.

- B <------------ not trying to be a d!ck. Trying to be a realist. Didn't realize that wasn't allowed.

Then how is it Jeanette Lee makes more money than her husband, if her husband (and a handful of other women) can outplay her? The other stuff DOES matter to your wallet, if not your ability to hit a ball.

Not so much directed at PoolJunkie but, the scorn and pissy potshots directed at her is unreal. People are acting like Emily's the arrogant jerk who needs to be taken down three pegs, because she dared to call herself a professional (she is) or a great player (it's a relative term but I'm sure she's great compared to most of the guys in this thread).

Some are even going out of their way to hunt down videos of bad sets like that will "prove" she's just so terrible at pool. Like these nobodies have never lost several racks in a row. Hey knockers... feel free fly across the planet, play on TV on foreign equipment, against players who could spot you a ball, and watch how many goose eggs you deliver.

My favorite post yet!!!!! Thanks CreeDo!

Emily,

Glad to see you're sticking it out here on the forums; I hope you stay. I also find it interesting so many of those posting have so much experience playing in high heels and mini-skirts as to feel qualified to critique your attire.

I haven't watched the match yet, just finished reading the entire thread, but I'm going to watch shortly.

Keep setting your sights high and striving to reach your goals!

I think a line should be drawn regarding
The difference between CRITICISM and CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

Many individuals here are not obviously not capable of providing
Constuctive criticism.....which Is defined as

"Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. In collaborative work, this kind of criticism is often a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards."

Emily did not ask for your insensitive bashing of her choice of outfit...if she wanted fashion tips she wouldn't be on a pool forum....what she needs is positive reinforcement and constructive critism.

We are all here beacuse we love pool and have made a place where people can come to gain insight and yea Mabey the occasional laugh or two...don't
Make the world or this forum a violent ,mean place...

spread knowledge...not nonsense

Thank
Brian marshall
