Emily Duddy VS Ine Helvik match Amway Cup March 2013

No reason, really. Truthfully, gender does not matter, but in reading your posts previously, I made the assumption you were female.

I thought the same thing, but because of the screen name. People named Mia usually have two X chromosomes, unless they're soldiers who are Missing In Action.

Well, I must interject here that my Uggs boots are some of the most comfortable things I own. I love my Uggs boots. They are comfy. Boots are cool!

I've heard my other half complain about long shirt sleeves or long pants, blaming them on why he missed a shot. He tripped over his pants leg or when he was breaking, the sleeve interfered. And my favorite, "These shoes are too tight."

If Emily feels comfy in her boots, more power to her! I can relate!

Jen,

I agree with your 'other' half. I have shoes, shirts & pants that I wll not play pool in & my front pockets have to be empty except for cash or a handkerchief.

I once missed the 8 ball in a game of 8 ball because my thumb caught my pants pocket. It was a triple pleated pair that sort of bloused out, especially when I bent over to shoot. When I got back to the table to again shoot the 8 ball, I got into position to shoot the ball & then set my cue against the table & proceeded to undo my belt etc. & dropped my pants to my knees & then shot the shot & made the 8. You gotta do what you gotta do to win. You can let anything interfere with that. Especially a poor choice of clothing or shoes.

When I was young, I dropped a football thrown to me in a pick up game of football that would have been a touchdown because my hair fell over my eyes. I cut my hair as soon as I got home. That was not an easy thing to do because hair was very important in those days.

Best Regards,

Different strokes for different folks. Thanks Emily, I enjoyed your video. I think you'll go far with your game. Take what you can use from this "critique" and discard the rest, there's no end to growth.

All this boils down to is people having an opinion about Emily's pool ability because of her looks -- whether the opinion be positive or negative, criticing or coming to her defense. If she wasn't good looking, didn't post pics of herself in lingerie, no one would give a F&#* how she plays or doesn't play. There are plenty of women playing in Pro events these days with the same skill level (or even below) of Emily and no one has an opinion on a lot of those women.

If you know more, or shoot better than she does, go ahead and post your video. Then and only then should she take anything you say seriously.

As for the lack of tact, I was raised to be respectful to women, whether they ask for criticism or not.

Seriously - so I am not allowed to give my opinion if Tony Romo is a good QB or Albert Pujols is good baseball player simply because I can't throw a football 50 yards or hit a 400 foot home run. Then you better call the networks and have them fire every announcer and most of the analysts they have.

I'm sorry but your post is simply dumb.

I'm not a female OR a soldier. But now that you mention it... think of an older female actress with the name Mia. Then think of her last name. My former screen name many years ago is STILL my screen name on another site that is knows as 'the army' to some. And it is a homophone of said actress' last name. ;)

I'd happily change my screen name again if it makes it easier on people. I just don't know how.

If the skirt is longer, she won't have to worry when she has to extend herself on the table.....besides, it is prudent and of better taste.!

1. She did NOT look worried.
2. Better taste for whom exactly. Guys that are 100 or Gay ;)

Never seem so many prudes in my life... we spend our whole lives trying to get woman out of their pants, and now some are complaining cause they see to much "skin"... gee whiz  You guys need to chill

Then how is it Jeanette Lee makes more money than her husband, if her husband (and a handful of other women) can outplay her? The other stuff DOES matter to your wallet, if not your ability to hit a ball.

Not so much directed at PoolJunkie but, the scorn and pissy potshots directed at her is unreal. People are acting like Emily's the arrogant jerk who needs to be taken down three pegs, because she dared to call herself a professional (she is) or a great player (it's a relative term but I'm sure she's great compared to most of the guys in this thread).

Some are even going out of their way to hunt down videos of bad sets like that will "prove" she's just so terrible at pool. Like these nobodies have never lost several racks in a row. Hey knockers... feel free fly across the planet, play on TV on foreign equipment, against players who could spot you a ball, and watch how many goose eggs you deliver.

Get real. If a bloke started a thread saying he was a great player and deserved respect for it, and was subsequently proven to be entirely average, he'd be roasted alive - and rightly so. Furthermore, she started this thread with the sole intention of shouting "Look at me! Look at me! I CAN play!!" Looks like SHE hunted down the only video of her playing well to me...

All I'm seeing is someone who has been coached, drilled and practiced - but with more natural beauty than natural ability. And good luck to her - but I strongly suggest she let her game do the talking from now on.

Why do I have this feeling she hustled someone betting on the over/under postcount in this thread and obviously took the over? Well played Emily...well played.

You're right about that, "yes dear, your new haircut looks amazing! That dress looks good on you! No you did not get lucky shape on half the shots that hit other balls, you play great!"

My post was not directed at you. I'm sorry if you assumed it was.

Sure, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but armchair experts should not be confused with people who actually know what they are doing.

If you, or anyone, really wanted to improve their game, it would be "simply dumb" to take the advice of just any yahoo out there.

I watched about 10 mins...she played pretty good.

What's wrong with the outfits. A lot of girls wear stockings with skirts, thought I was gonna see something scandalous the way everyone was talking.

I said this from day one for Emily. Hell I even sent her a message saying to stay off of this site Like Jenn B and all of the top flight women. Why bother?? You're only asking to be ridiculed!!!!

Hey Creedo got a question for ya... You ever play in any tournaments?? Its something that has been on my mind for a bit....

WTG Emily

I don't understand some of the comments here, I'd rather see a nice attractive woman playing pool than an ogre but that's neither here or there, and her prerogative to wear what she wants to. what people should appreciate is love love of the GAME. Emily just keep doing what you do. wish you the best!

There is a big difference being respectful to someone and earning professional respect. Women and men alike should ALL be treated respectfully unless they have done something completely morally unforgivable. Professionals should only be given respect as professionals when they have earned it. Part of earning that respect is acting like a professional, which includes having tact.

Take Earl Strickland for example. He is probably the most talented and accomplished pool player in modern history, but Efren, despite not having as many world titles under his belt, still gets many times more respect than Earl because he has tact.

The whole "Great player" thing is being taken entirely out of context.
This isn't muhammed ali saying "I'm the greatest, nobody can beat me".

Basically, she gets publicity pics taken, and immediately some insecure guys go out of their way
to portray her as a pretty face who can't play.
Or in some cases they go out of their way to say she's ugly and can't play.
She didn't even post the pics.

So of COURSE she feels defensive and feels obliged to say "look, I really CAN play."
That's where the "great" comment comes from.

And I know you remember and understand all this, you seem like a bright guy.
You have a choice to look at that context and take it for what it is,
"ok, she was set back on her heels when she said that,
and feels like she's getting random unwarranted criticism. So now she's trying to prove something."

But inexplicably, bafflingly, you choose to pretend she's a stuck up person who
completely overrates herself and needs a reality check.
I'll never understand that mindset. It's needless antagonism.

Farrow?

Don't bother changing your screen name. I think it was an interesting surprise.
